No-cook snacks and light bites (11–20)
hot sandwich

At school festivals and cultural fairs, you end up moving around a lot, right? That means you’re bound to get hungry.
So I’d like to introduce hot sandwiches as a staple that can really fill you up.
A hot sandwich is simply a sandwich that’s been heated.
The classic fillings would be cheese, tomato, ham, and lettuce.
It could also be nice to prepare some dessert-style sandwiches, like ones with chocolate.
Another plus is that if you use a hot sandwich maker, you can make them without using an open flame.
hot dog

Aren’t hot dogs a food that strongly evokes festivals and food stalls? Rather than Japanese festivals, they feel more like something from events with an overseas theme, and being able to carry one around while you enjoy the event makes it even more fun.
It’s a simple dish—just slice a bun, add a sausage or other fillings, and tuck in mustard or ketchup—and its convenience is part of the appeal.
Another hallmark of hot dogs is how versatile they are; exploring new flavor possibilities sounds like a lot of fun, too.

Jacket potato with butterNEW!
@marumi_kitchen [1% Motivation Baked Potatoes with Butter] I almost hesitated to call this a recipe, but it was so easy and turned out so fluffy and delicious that I had to share! With this method, you can whip it up quickly whenever you’re a little hungry—give it a try! [Ingredients] 2 potatoes (about 400 g) Butter, to taste Salt, to taste *Parsley [Instructions] 1) Wash the potatoes thoroughly. *Remove any eyes. 2) While still wet, wrap them in plastic wrap, place on a microwave-safe dish, and microwave at 600W for 6 minutes. 3) When a skewer slides through easily, add butter and sprinkle salt—done. *If they’re still firm, microwave a bit longer. Marumi Spice is also great if you like. For spice restocks and variation recipes: 👉 @marumi_store_officialJaga-butter (butter-baked potato)Easy in the microwave#Marumi Spice

Jaga-bata, a dish famous for using whole potatoes.
Wash the potatoes, remove any sprouts, wrap them in plastic wrap while still wet, place them on a microwave-safe plate, and heat in a 600W microwave for 6 minutes.
The heating time depends on the size of the potatoes, so insert a bamboo skewer and add more time if they’re still firm.
Once cooked through, remove the plastic wrap and cut a cross slit with a knife.
Finish with your preferred seasonings, such as butter and salt.
By changing the seasoning, it’s a dish that can delight everyone from children to adults.
Hashimaki OkonomiyakiNEW!
@morioskitchen [PR/Japan Premix Association] We were challenged by the Premix Association. We made “Hashimaki Okonomiyaki,” an easy festival-style dish using okonomiyaki flour. It could be fun to gather around a hot plate and make it together! Ingredients are in the comments.Japan Premix Association#PROkonomiyaki flour

Easy to eat even while walking! Chopstick-rolled okonomiyaki, perfect for food stalls! Mix okonomiyaki flour, water, eggs, and tiny shrimp to make the batter, then cook it on a griddle in a long oval shape.
Top with shredded cabbage and grilled pork belly, pour a tablespoon of batter over, and flip it.
Once the surface is cooked, flip it back, roll it tightly around chopsticks from one end, and finish with sauce, mayonnaise, and aonori.
By pre-cooking the batter and pork belly, you can almost skip cooking on the day of the event!
Whole pickled cucumberNEW!

Cucumber on a stick, a common sight at food stalls, is actually easy to make.
First, take a cucumber and peel three strips with a peeler.
Rub it all over with salt, rinse with water, and pat dry with paper towels.
Then soak it for half a day in a seasoning mixture made by combining shiro-dashi, salt, and chili peppers.
After marinating, the cucumbers become soft and it can be hard to insert chopsticks, so it helps to first run a bamboo skewer through to make a path, then insert the chopsticks.
In conclusion
We introduced menu ideas for a school festival booth that can be served without any cooking. Simple, eye-catching foods that don’t require heat will help create a special atmosphere on the day while making the prep fun, too. Combine ideas as a class and create an unforgettable festival filled with smiles!
