Recreation Activities for Use at Day Service Centers (61–70)
Long Life Ondo

Shall we all try dancing the “Chōju Oondo” (Long Life Dance)? It’s sung by Yonesuke—famous for that rice paddle—and features cute girls’ chorus call-and-response.
In the video, the girl doing hula is adorable, too.
The ukulele gives it a light, pleasant Hawaiian sound.
The lyrics are easy to remember, and it’s a song that gives you the energy to feel young no matter how old you are! Let’s all dance together!
Ohajiki activity

Ohajiki (marble flicking) is easy to play and great for fine motor skills, isn’t it? How about adding a little twist to the classic game? Make a base out of cardboard and tape a small box to its end.
It will act like a soccer goal.
Flick the pieces toward it and try to get them in—but that might be too easy as is, right? So, cut a hole in the base to create a trapdoor.
With just a small tweak, the game becomes much more fun.
Okonomiyaki Game

Here’s a game with a slightly tricky vibe that I really want all you food lovers to try! It’s an okonomiyaki game.
Anything that falls is invalid—so it’s perfect for those who want to treat food with care.
It looks like the cardboard flips over too much when it catches air, and a lot of items tend to fall off, huh? Still, doesn’t it seem like a lively, fun activity? Give it a try with everyone!
Newspaper Catch

As the name suggests, Newspaper Catch is a game where you catch a ball using sheets of newspaper.
It’s simple, yet somehow it’s so much fun! It might also be enjoyable to toss the ball gently so the newspaper doesn’t tear.
It’s like a game of catch with words.
I was the kind of person who couldn’t catch a ball in PE, so I thought that when I get older, I’d like to play this game instead (lol).
Goldfish scooping

Let’s try doing goldfish scooping at home.
That said, we won’t be using real goldfish.
You’ll need a stapler, scissors, a milk carton, plastic bags, double-sided tape, and vinyl tape.
There are quite a few tools and steps, but it’s easy to make.
Have fun by using colorful vinyl tape and drawing faces on the goldfish.
Fill a washbasin with water, float the goldfish, and give it a try!
Fishing game

The fishing game is a simple game where even kids can “catch” fish drawn on paper.
If you love fishing but haven’t been able to go lately, why not have a little fun with this game? It could be interesting to play by “catching” money, too.
It also sounds fun to draw all kinds of fish and try catching them! Highly recommended for those of you who want to go fishing every day but just can’t make it as often anymore!
In conclusion
We’ve introduced various recreational games.
How did you like them? There were lots of simple yet fun activities, weren’t there? These are all rec games you can enjoy comfortably even with people you’re meeting for the first time, so please have a great time together with everyone.
