Four-leaf clover bookmark
A bookmark shaped like a four-leaf clover can help you feel the springtime even while reading indoors.
Since you can make it with just a single sheet of origami paper, it’s easy for older adults to try.
Folding with the finished piece in mind and using your fingertips are also effective as brain training, making it perfect for seniors.
If you make it at day service and take it home, it becomes a craft that lets you enjoy spring without going out.
Because scissors or a cutter are used to cut the origami paper in half, please provide support as needed depending on the situation.
Wisteria swaying
How about a hanging wisteria decoration with a realistic, three-dimensional look? Prepare purple, light purple, and yellow-green origami paper, bamboo skewers, and string.
The flowers are made from quarter-size origami sheets, so please cut them in advance.
Fold the colored side in half, then fold in half two more times.
Draw petal shapes with a pencil and cut them out.
Use a bamboo skewer to curl the tips of the petals into a gentle curve.
Make a small stick-shaped piece and attach it to the petals to complete each flower.
Then, adhere the flowers onto a long, narrow strip of yellow-green origami to build up a three-dimensional floral cluster.
Attach a string and hang it by the window—watch it sway softly in the breeze.
Simple wisteria flower
Introducing a wisteria flower made by combining many small flower parts.
Cut a standard sheet of origami paper into quarters and fold it as you would when making a crane.
Once you open and fold both sides only on the surface that will become the front of the flower, the blossom is complete.
Make lots of flowers and leaves and assemble them to create a lovely hanging wisteria decoration.
Because this project requires many parts, it’s perfect for recreational activities in senior care facilities.

Oshie Owl
Owls with big eyes and fluffy feathers are very cute birds.
Small owl-themed items are also said to be cute and popular.
In addition, since the word for owl (fukurou) can also be written as characters meaning “no hardship,” it is considered a good-luck charm.
Here’s a strap kit for a padded picture (oshie) featuring an owl motif that is both cute and auspicious.
The kit includes a cardboard board and fabric.
Attach the keychain parts to the fabric and cut them out.
Apply glue to each piece and assemble them.
Add the eyes and cord to finish.
Because you can make a fabric craft without sewing, this kit is recommended even for seniors who aren’t comfortable with sewing.
Translucent Garland
A translucent garland that creates a light, springlike atmosphere.
Cut translucent origami lengthwise into strips one-eighth the width.
Glue each piece together alternately top and bottom in sequence, offsetting them diagonally as you go to create a soft, petal-like design.
Make a second set of the same pieces and attach it to the first to give the garland a three-dimensional look.
Punch holes and thread clips through to finish it as a hanging decoration.
Because it uses translucent origami, the soft colors shine beautifully when light passes through.
vase mat
After taping a string to the back of the plate, slot it into a slit and wrap the thread around the front and back alternately.
Once you’ve passed thread through all the slits, stitch along the center as if weaving into those threads.
Using a single color is fine, but you can also tie on a different color mid-way and weave it in to combine colors.
When it reaches a good size, remove all the strings from the paper plate and tie the extended strings at the base.
Trim any excess length and you’re done.
Choose your favorite colors and make a vase mat that’s uniquely yours.
3D tulip wreath
Let’s make a three-dimensional tulip with origami.
There are many ways to make origami tulips, right? We’ll cut out tulip shapes, then assemble them by gluing the pieces together.
Use thick paper or construction paper to create a wreath.
Attach tulips with leaves and stems to the wreath.
