Guts ShipShimazu Aya

This work, sung by the solitary enka singer Aya Shimazu, is set on the northern seas.
The lyrics, depicting a protagonist heading toward the Kuril waters where his father rests, powerfully express family love and a man’s way of life.
Released in October 1997, the song has been included in many best-of albums and is known as one of Shimazu’s signature pieces.
For example, it appears in the 2007 release “Aya Shimazu Complete Collection” and the 2022 “BEST & BEST Aya Shimazu Complete Song Collection.” Vividly portraying fishermen who live by the northern sea, it lets you fully savor the appeal of enka set on boats and in port towns.
It’s a recommended piece for those who value bonds with family and comrades.

It’s a Vocaloid track driven by dense yet dazzling synth tones, delivering a fast-paced electro sound.

wailing in griefKudō Shizuka

Among Shizuka Kudo’s discography, which has produced numerous hit songs since her solo debut in the late 1980s, the best-selling is Dokoku, released in 1993.
It’s a masterpiece with lyrics by Miyuki Nakajima and music by Tsugutoshi Goto, and many women in their 40s today likely have this song in their karaoke repertoire.
The song is set in a relatively low key for a female vocal, making it a great choice for women with lower voices who struggle with high notes.
Kudo’s characteristic, sultry vibrato is applied naturally, yet the difficulty level is modest, with a very memorable and easy-to-sing melody line.
It’s also recommended for those aiming for high scores at karaoke.
DreamHirai Dai

Hirai Dai’s song “Dream,” which strongly features EDM elements.
While it’s basically pop music, aspects like the clearly defined build-ups give it that EDM flavor.
The most singable point of this track is, above all, the scarcity of long sustained notes.
Although there are relatively many instances of falsetto, the lack of long tones means you don’t need to worry about breathing.
If the falsetto parts are too difficult, adjust the key so that those sections can be sung in your highest comfortable chest voice.
