Simple handmade toys that will delight your beloved dog

Even when you buy toys for your beloved dog, they often get destroyed right away, don’t they?

Dogs relieve stress by chewing, so you can’t simply tell them not to chew.

Many households are likely looking for durable toys or ones that are easy to replace.

If you could make toys easily at home, both dogs and owners would be grateful, right?

In this article, we introduce ideas for making homemade toys for dogs.

We also feature toys that dogs will love, including educational (enrichment) types, so be sure to make some and enjoy seeing your dog’s delighted reaction!

If you want to make a toy that’s hard to break, I recommend a rope toy.

First, buy a thick rope at a home improvement store.

Next, tie one end of the rope into a ball.

Then, tie the other end into a loop big enough to fit your hand through, and you’re done.

This way, it won’t easily break even if it’s pulled or chewed.

If it still gets destroyed, use a thicker rope to make it sturdier.

Give it a try!

A great item to make ball-loving dogs enjoy playtime even more is a slingshot.

First, take two chopsticks and fix them together in a cross shape with a rubber band.

Adjust the angle while imagining a slingshot.

Next, fold some thick paper to create the launching cup, and tie it between the crossed chopsticks with a rubber band to finish.

If you use a ball made of cushiony material, it’s safe to play indoors.

Also, using thicker rubber bands will increase the flying distance.

Paper Cup Tower

Some people would prefer not to do crafts or sewing if they can help it.

For those people, a perfect option is a paper cup tower.

All you need are paper cups.

Line up five cups on the floor, then place four on top.

Keep building the tower in the same way.

Next, place treats in various spots on the tower, and you’re done.

Then just watch your dog knock down the tower and enjoy the treats.

It’s simple and something you can set up right away.

It’s also ideal when you need to put together a toy in a hurry.

For those who want a slightly more challenging educational toy, a craft using a plastic bottle is recommended.

First, prepare two bookends and place them facing each other so they overlap.

Next, take an empty plastic bottle, make a hole just below the mouth, and insert a chopstick through it.

Finally, thread the chopstick through both sides of the bookends, and it’s complete.

Then put treats in the bottle and let your dog try it.

If it seems difficult, show them how it works, and they should be able to get the treats out.

Do you know the X Gyro? It looks like a cylinder and is a toy you throw and play with, similar to a flying disc.

Because it’s lightweight, it can travel a long distance—that’s its key feature.

It really seems like a toy dogs would love, doesn’t it? If you make one yourself, you can create a cylinder out of a clear file (plastic folder).

Many people have posted videos of their DIY attempts, so check them out.

Also, when playing with your dog, be careful that the edge of the clear file doesn’t cut their mouth.

In conclusion

Here are some ideas for homemade toys for your beloved dog.

Since they’re handmade, they may not be very durable, but think of it as something you can just make again if it gets broken, and let your dog play to their heart’s content.
