Which kanji has more strokes? (1–10)
簿: register, account book, ledger; 薄: thin, slight, light (in color/flavor), weak
See the answer
register / ledger / record book
The character 簿 originates from bamboo slips used for writing, and it is also used to refer to bound paper for writing. Meanwhile, 薄 is read as “usui” and means thin in thickness or scant in content. When written small, they can look like the same character, but there is a difference between the bamboo radical and the grass radical: 簿 has 19 strokes, while 薄 has 16.
In conclusion
Did anyone get a perfect score? There were many kanji you don’t often use in everyday life, but they were all impressive if you could read them.
Take this opportunity to memorize them and try quizzing your friends and family! If you use this quiz for recreation, please present it in a way that’s easy for older adults to see, such as printing the kanji in large type.
