Hiragana Rearrangement Quiz

Do you know what an anagram is? An anagram is a wordplay where you rearrange letters to form a word.
Building on that idea, there’s the “hiragana rearrangement quiz.” Here’s how it works: for example, if you have 「んいくふけ」, you can rearrange it to 「ふくいけん」, which means Fukui Prefecture.
Most likely, anyone can solve it if they think it through.
Try practicing so you can answer as quickly as possible.
Once you get used to it, you can challenge yourself with prompts that have more characters.
Guess the prefecture from four clues

This is a quiz where hints related to Japan’s prefectures are revealed one by one, and you try to figure out which prefecture fits all the hints.
You can wait until all the hints are presented before answering, but it also seems fun to aim to answer with as few hints as possible.
It’s probably easiest to understand if the hints start with ones that could apply to multiple prefectures and gradually move toward definitive clues.
Since you’ll be matching hints to prefectures in your head, it can also serve as brain training.
And if a hint covers something you didn’t know, you’ll gain new knowledge about Japan’s prefectures.
Prefecture Ranking Quiz

How much do you know about prefectures you’ve never lived in? Even if you’re well-versed in geography and history, there might be things you don’t actually know.
That’s why I’d like to introduce the “Prefecture Ranking Quiz.” In this quiz, you answer which prefecture ranks first in various categories—for example, a ranking of prefectures that seem to have the most wealthy people, or rankings of daikon radish consumption.
The lineup is wonderfully diverse, so it’s both educational and a great conversation starter.

Guess the prefecture from the photo quiz

This is a “Who am I?” quiz where you answer which prefecture the featured tourist attraction is in.
Quizzes that derive answers from three hints are a classic, but a quiz based on photos feels fresh, and it would likely be a hit even at senior care facilities where I regularly incorporate “Who am I?” quizzes into recreation.
Display photos of tourist attractions on a screen or flip cards.
Let participants think about which prefecture each attraction belongs to.
It’s the kind of quiz that could also spark lively conversations about nostalgic travel memories.
Famous Confectionery Quiz

How many famous local confections from around Japan do you know? Even if you’ve received them as souvenirs, you might not always remember which region they come from.
That’s where the “Famous Confections Quiz” comes in.
In this quiz, you answer which prefecture each confection is from.
It features a wide range—from universally known treats to lesser-known gems.
It’s also fun to enjoy some confections while taking the quiz, or to chat with people around you about what you’ve eaten and which ones you’d like to try.
Famous Landmark Photo Quiz

Not only is it great brain training, but it’s also a visual treat: the “Famous Spots Photo Quiz.” In this quiz, you look at five beautiful landscape photos and guess which prefecture they’re from.
Even if you don’t get the answers right, just looking at the photos is enjoyable.
This time it’s Japanese prefectures, but a version where you guess countries around the world would be just as fun.
You could also show each other photos from places you’ve visited and try to guess—another great way to play.
Either way, it’s sure to spark lively conversation.
Tourist Attraction Quiz

Even while staying indoors, you can enjoy a little travel mood with the “Landmark Quiz.” In this game, you look at photos of famous sights and answer which prefecture they’re in.
The quiz itself is fun, and the photos are beautiful, so it’s a great way to refresh yourself.
Some landmarks are quite challenging, so try tackling them while using the hints.
It’s also a highlight to reminisce with friends—like talking about the places you’ve actually visited.
