karaoke

Who wouldn’t think of their hometown? Healthy Singing Voice Karaoke

Karaoke is something you can enjoy even in a short bit of free time, and it’s great for relieving stress.

There’s a unique pleasure in singing at the top of your lungs that nothing else can replace.

Solo karaoke is fun, but getting lively with a group also sounds exciting.

Another way to enjoy karaoke is to use a machine with a scoring feature.

It will surely motivate you to go to karaoke.

Plus, since it analyzes your singing voice, it’s perfect for anyone who wants to improve.

carry a handmade mikoshi (portable Shinto shrine)

carry a handmade mikoshi (portable Shinto shrine)

When it comes to festivals, the lavish mikoshi are an essential element that lift everyone’s spirits, and the powerful sight of people carrying them conveys a positive energy.

This project invites you to try carrying a mikoshi yourself and to express the joy of a festival with a handmade version.

Real mikoshi are heavy and made of wood, but if you build one mainly out of paper, you can make something easy to carry.

Being able to give clear shape to your own image of a festival or a mikoshi is also a key point that highlights the fun of festivals.

If everyone carries it together in unison, it will create a sense of unity on the spot.

Song Exercise: Festival Mambo

I tried making an exercise routine for Hibari Misora’s “Omatsuri Mambo”!
Song Exercise: Festival Mambo

The key is dancing with a uchiwa fan! Here are some ideas for a sing-along exercise to “Omatsuri Mambo.” In summer, many of us use uchiwa fans to beat the heat, right? This time, let’s move our bodies and exercise to Hibari Misora’s “Omatsuri Mambo.” The video shows choreography you can copy either standing or sitting, so give it a try.

Using a uchiwa fan makes the movements look more striking!

Mito Komon Exercise

Mito Komon Exercise

This is an exercise routine that moves the whole body to the theme song of Mito Kōmon, a staple of period dramas.

Because it uses a song everyone knows, the music itself is enjoyable.

Despite its powerful feel, the song’s gentle tempo is another key point; moving your body while catching the rhythm helps you generate strength.

Once you get used to moving along with the music, doing it while singing is also recommended, as it is expected to help improve cognitive function.

Samurai Hustle

Samurai Hustle

When you think of sankin-kotai in the Edo period, you probably picture a slow, long-distance journey on foot.

Samurai Hustle flips that image on its head by portraying sankin-kotai with a deliberately high-speed, opposite approach in a period comedy.

It humorously highlights how a small, impoverished domain uses wit and ingenuity to tackle the shogunate’s unreasonable demands.

Through the lord played by Kuranosuke Sasaki and his colorful retainers, you feel both laughter and a strong sense of camaraderie.

It’s a work that seems to convey the message that if you don’t give up, a path will open.

kamishibai (paper theater)

Also recommended for seniors! Yutapon’s entertaining kamishibai “The Fox’s Bon Dance”
kamishibai (paper theater)

Kamishibai brings back memories, doesn’t it? I’m sure it will bring back childhood memories for older adults, too.

Doesn’t it feel exciting to listen to a story while looking at the pictures? If staff members take on the role of the narrator—changing their tone to match each scene and timing the page turns creatively—it could be even more enjoyable.

Borrowing kamishibai from the library is great, but it would also be wonderful for everyone to work together to create an original one.

How about listening to the seniors’ memories and building a story from them? It would surely become a kamishibai that resonates with the heart.

handclap

Hand Clap is a Korean dance that became hugely popular as a weight-loss dance.

While the original routine is quite intense, you can slow down the tempo and movements so that even seniors can try it easily! Stay seated and take more than twice the usual time for each move.

It’s also nice to add variations, like including a deep-breathing section.

After that, all that’s left is to enjoy it together!
