Karaoke songs that make it easy for women to score high

Karaoke systems with scoring features have been getting more and more sophisticated lately, and an increasing number now evaluate vocal techniques like vibrato and scooping.

However, the largest part of the scoring criteria is still the accuracy of melody and rhythm.

In this feature, we focus on those criteria and have compiled a selection of songs that are easy to sing and likely to score high, especially ones where it’s easy to follow the melody and rhythm.

When karaoke has a scoring function, you can’t help but want to go for a high score, whether you’re confident in your singing or not.

For each song, we’ve also included tips on how to earn a high score, so be sure to use them as a reference and aim for your best.

That said, the most important thing is to forget about the numbers and just sing freely and have fun the way you like!

Heisei Flamingo is a female YouTuber duo that enjoys nationwide popularity.

Since they’re such popular YouTubers, many of you may already know them.

The song they released is Super Heroine.

As the two are not professional singers, the track features an overall easy vocal line.

In particular, the vocal range is set on the narrower side, making it easier for those who can’t hit high notes to aim for a high score.

Give it a try!

FairyDAZBEE

DAZBEE | “Fairy” M/V
FairyDAZBEE

DAZBEE’s masterpiece “Fairy.” Modeled on Celtic music, this piece carries a fantastical atmosphere throughout.

That said, most of it sits in the high register.

Because of that, many might feel it’s not ideal for aiming for a high karaoke score.

While it’s true that it’s in a high range, the overall span is narrow, so if you adjust the key appropriately, it’s actually quite easy to sing.

Rather than belting, try singing in a whispery tone to keep your pitch stable—give it a try.

Bird’s PoemLia

Bird's PoemLia

It’s the theme song of AIR, a romance adventure game that was also adapted into an anime.

The clear, straightforward melody line is striking.

Not limited to this song, when the melody line is distinct it’s easier to catch the notes, so you’ll likely score high at karaoke.

RirurariruhaKimura Kaera

Released in 2005, this is Kaela Kimura’s third single and one of her signature songs, known for its lively rhythm.

The vocal range isn’t very wide throughout, making it easy to sing at a consistent energy level.

It’s best to sing it clearly and crisply in time with the upbeat rhythm.

Night journeyYorushika

It’s Yorushika’s second digital single, released in March 2020.

If you sing this song at karaoke, you probably won’t feel that the melody is “difficult.” It’s crafted to be that simple and approachable.

One thing to watch out for if you’re aiming for a high score is the swung rhythm.

If your vocal rhythm turns flat, it will ruin everything, so listen closely to the drums and be careful not to lag behind the swung beat.

Beyond that, if you can sing with a gentle tone and expression like the original artist, it’ll be perfect.

crescent moonayaka

This is Ayaka’s fourth single overall, released on September 27, 2006.

It’s a classic slow ballad with a female vocal—no further introduction needed.

As you all know, Ayaka is a singer with very high vocal ability, so performing this song with the same level of expressiveness as the original is quite challenging.

However, the song itself has a very familiar, memorable, and flowing melody, so in that sense, it might be a good choice for aiming for a high score at karaoke.

To sing it in the original key, you’ll need to be comfortable using mixed voice and falsetto.

If you’re not confident in those areas, try lowering the key.

usyama

Yama’s song “us” doesn’t have many high notes, so there aren’t any parts where you need to belt; overall it’s sung in a whispery style, making it very easy to sing throughout.

The general range is G#3–C#5, and the verses (A-melody to B-melody) are on the lower side, which suits lower voices well.

The chorus does include some higher notes around C5, but if you sing them lightly with a falsetto-like tone rather than belting, it’ll be easier to sing without strain and will fit the song’s atmosphere perfectly.

Try delivering it gently and smoothly!
