Variations on ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’Ishige Rika

This wind ensemble piece, based on a familiar French folk song, captivates listeners with its rich variations despite its small instrumentation.
Through Rika Ishige’s arrangement, the original melody takes on a fresh character, transforming into a work that fully showcases the appeal of ensemble playing—featuring rhythmic and tonal shifts, as well as lively interplay among instruments.
It’s a piece I’d recommend to wind band enthusiasts, offering the chance to refine both technique and expressiveness while enjoying ensemble cohesion and the changing colors of sound.
Song of WalesAlbert Oliver Davis

A piece composed by the American composer-arranger Albert Oliver Davis.
It is based on three folk songs from Wales, which occupies the southwestern part of Great Britain and is part of the British Commonwealth.
The music evokes the serene landscapes of Wales.
Ancient FlowerNishimura Yukiko

The ballad composed by Yukiko Nishimura vividly captures the delicate beauty of falling petals with rich emotion, gently embracing the hearts of both performers and listeners.
This work received high praise when performed by the Alabama All-State Middle School Band in the United States, with participants calling it “one of the most memorable pieces ever.” Scored for a diverse ensemble including flute, clarinet, trumpet, and more, its lush harmonies and relaxed tempo leave a pleasant afterglow for those who play and those who listen.
It’s a perfect piece for anyone who wants to cherish their passion for music while enjoying performing with friends.
Mambo of the BullfighterBernardino Bautista Monterde

Even if you don’t know the original title “La Macarena,” you probably know the word “mambo,” right? The song that made this word famous worldwide was this hit by the King of Mambo, Pérez Prado.
The shout of “Ah! Huh!” was extremely popular in Japan, too.
The alto sax solo and so on are arranged in a way that makes women fall in love.
Festival VariationsClaude Thomas Smith

It was commissioned by the United States Air Force Band and premiered by the ensemble in 1982, and it is known as one of C.T.
Smith’s signature works.
As the composer himself was a horn player, the horn parts are particularly striking.
The grandeur and power of the horns make this piece especially popular among women.
