Sword-swallowing magic

Have you ever seen the sword-swallowing magic trick? Watching someone swallow a long sword in one breath leaves quite an impression, doesn’t it? In fact, that trick uses a gimmick in the sword.
The sword is designed to coil up, so it’s rolled up when it goes into the mouth and then extended little by little as it’s pulled out.
By the way, there’s a similar trick where a long balloon is swallowed, but in that case, the air is let out while the balloon is fed into the mouth.
Choose whichever you like to try, depending on the atmosphere and concept of your magic show.
An empty can comes back to life

An empty can with its pull tab open and the body dented in.
When you give that can a light shake…
amazingly, the can returns to its original shape, the pull tab that was supposedly opened goes back, and when you open the tab, juice even comes out—a baffling magic trick.
In reality, the tab was never opened; a piece of black paper is stuck over the mouth to make it look open.
A hole is also made near the top of the can, a little of the contents are let out to dent it, and the hole is sealed with tape.
When you shake the can, the carbonation inside expands the can back to normal—that’s the trick.
Guillotine Magic

We’re introducing a guillotine magic trick that will have your audience on the edge of their seats.
This guillotine has several holes: the smaller holes are used to cut vegetables as a demonstration, and the larger one is for inserting an arm.
In fact, the guillotine has a lever that retracts the blade, so you pull it to make sure it won’t cut when an arm is inside.
It doesn’t require any special technique, so it’s easy for beginners to try.
It should also be a hit if you try it with a spectator’s arm.
Magic where a bottle comes out of a paper bag

An ordinary, unremarkable A4-sized brown envelope folded flat—what could be inside? While letting everyone feel it and see it folded, you open the envelope, slip your hand in, and—amazingly—a bottle comes out of the envelope! It’s a surprising magic trick.
If people first think there’s really nothing inside—maybe just a slip of paper at most—seeing a large bottle appear is shocking, right? The method is simple: the envelope just has a slit cut into it, and you secretly hide a bottle under your jacket around your waist.
You put your hand into the envelope and pull the bottle out through the slit.
Why not try it with a 1-liter plastic bottled drink?
Magic that changes clothes in an instant

If you’re going to show a quick trick like a party gag, it’s best to choose magic that you can do in a flash and that leaves a strong impression.
One great option for that is a trick where the clothes you’re wearing change in an instant.
You might doubt it—does it really happen instantly?—but it truly does: you just spin around once on the spot, and by the time you face forward again, your outfit has changed.
The secret is that you’re wearing two T-shirts.
The one underneath has slits running from the sleeves down to around the stomach, and only the front portion of the top T-shirt is shown.
It’s a trick that will amaze everyone in an instant.
Head-dropping magic

How about this: you’re chatting normally and then, all of a sudden, your head drops with a jolt and startles everyone around you.
Haven’t you seen famous magicians do this on TV? One moment you hint that something’s a bit off with your neck… and in the next moment, your head suddenly drops—guaranteed to make onlookers gasp.
The secret? Just a wire hanger and a long S-hook—an incredibly simple gimmick to make.
Put the setup on over your clothes, then throw on a thick jacket, and you’re ready.
When you lower your head, just grab the S-hook part and lift the shoulder of your clothing at the same time.
After that, practice a bit of acting to sell it!
Magic where a rope penetrates the neck

A magic trick where you yank both ends of a cord wrapped around your neck, and just at the moment when it seems like you’ll choke out a grunt, the cord somehow slips cleanly off your neck.
No matter how many times you look, it definitely seems like the cord is wrapped around your neck, but even if you pull hard, it slips off in the next instant.
The secret is that it only looks like it’s wrapped; in reality, it isn’t.
You create a section where the two parts of the cord overlap, and as long as that overlap holds even when you let go, it appears to be wrapped.
You can do it with a necktie or any cord, so it’s an easy trick I recommend.
