Tokyo Cultural Festival Calendar: University and Junior College Festival Schedule [2026]

Drawn in by the savory aromas of the food stalls and finding yourself captivated by the stage performances, the campus is filled with a special festival energy that excites not only students but everyone who visits.

One of the unique joys of school festivals is getting to enjoy the distinctive events and decorations that reflect each university’s character.

The Koma Festival is held every fall jointly by Josai University and Josai Junior College. Each year it features a star-studded lineup with music performances by artists and comedy shows, and in addition, there’s the “Koma Festival Yose,” a rakugo showcase with professional storytellers—making for a program packed with variety.

Rikkyo University is a private university headquartered in Nishi-Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, established in 1922. It is an Anglican mission school rooted in a private academy founded by Bishop Channing Moore Williams, a missionary of the Episcopal Church in the United States. The name of its school festival is St.

It comes from Paul’s Festival, as the patron saint of Rikkyo University is Saint Paul.

Hosakura Festival | Nihon University (College of Law)Mon, Nov 3 – Tue, Nov 4, Tokyo

Known by the abbreviation “Nichidai,” Nihon University is Japan’s largest comprehensive university and was established in 1920. Its educational mission is “to always maintain a global perspective and contribute to the development of education and human society.” The Faculty of Law’s university festival is called the Hosakura Festival. Because it is a mammoth university, festivals are held separately by campus and faculty, so please be careful not to mix them up.

Soen Festival | Nishogakusha UniversityNov 2 (Sun) – 3 (Mon), Tokyo Metropolis

Nishogakusha University, located in Sanbancho, Chiyoda City, Tokyo, was founded in 1877, and the university was established in 1949. It originated from a Chinese studies cram school opened by Mishima Chushu in 1877, and it consists of two faculties: the Faculty of Literature and the Faculty of International Politics and Economics.
