Origami creations are super handy for wall decorations and crafts!

In this article, we’ll introduce flower ideas you can make with just one sheet of origami paper.

There are many familiar flowers for kids, such as cherry blossoms, tulips, dandelions, and morning glories.

Since this is aimed at children, the folding methods are simple and the steps aren’t too many.

If you want to try making origami flowers, use this as a guide and give it a try.

You can add stems or stick them onto wrapping paper to make a bouquet.

Here’s how to fold an iris (ayame) using a single sheet of origami paper.

First, fold the paper into a square base.

With the open end at the top, fold the left and right edges to the center line, crease well, then open and squash-fold.

Repeat the same for the other sides, then fold the top left and right edges to the center line.

Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner, then open the top corner and squash-fold.

Next, turn all the layers horizontally (flip through the sides) and fold the bottom corner upward.

On the side that isn’t open, fold the corner to the center line; flip and fold to the center line again.

Finally, while lifting the top corner, fold it downward, and lightly curl the tip with a pen to finish!

Here’s how to fold a clematis flower from a single sheet of origami paper.

First, turn the paper over and fold it using the preliminary square base.

With the open end at the top, fold the left and right edges to the center, unfold, then open the pockets and squash-fold them.

Repeat the same steps on the other sides.

With the white side facing up, fold the top corner down to meet the edge.

Do the same on the other sides, then fold the model in half along the center.

Using the colored corner as the pivot, fold the bottom corner up at a diagonal, unfold, and make an inside reverse fold at the corner.

Hold the folded section and open it out like a flower.

Change the mountain fold into a valley fold, and squash-fold the corner.

Open the corner and curl it outward.

Repeat the same steps on the remaining sections, and you’re done!

Here’s how to fold a poinsettia you can make with kids.

First, place the origami paper color-side down and fold both edges in half twice.

Rotate 90 degrees and fold the same way.

Fold into a triangle twice to crease.

Fold along the central crease, open it, and fold the bottom edge up along the nearest crease.

Repeat for the other sides, then fold the corners left and right along the creases.

Next, fold along the diagonal crease, and fold the left corner to the right along the second crease from the left.

Fold the diagonal edge diagonally to align with the horizontal crease.

Repeat for the others.

Open the inside and square it along the creases, then pull the bottom out slightly while tucking it inside.

Fold the top corner down along the crease to set a fold line.

Open and square it along the crease you made.

While pushing in the center, flatten it, then fold the lower left and right corners up to the center into triangles.

Fold the top corner down to align with the bottom edge to set a crease.

Fold the middle of the left and right edges toward the center.

Fold the bottom edge up, then match the right corner to the left corner and the left corner to the right corner.

Fold upward along the crease and tuck the flaps inside to finish.

Materials: one sheet of origami for the flower, one sheet that is half of a quarter size, and glue or double-sided tape.

With the white side facing up, fold it using the zabuton (cushion) method.

Turn it over, then pull out the lower corner and fold the edge to the center.

For just the last part, make a mountain fold so it comes up, and fold the corner inward.

Turn it over and fold the corners to align with the edges.

With the white side facing down, fold it in half horizontally.

Align the corner with the center crease to make a guiding crease, open it, then pinch the center line and fold along the diagonal line.

Make an inside reverse fold at the center corner.

Finally, fold both end corners and secure with glue or double-sided tape to finish!
