Machi★Asobi is an event held in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, that brings together a wide variety of projects centered on anime works. Organized by the NPO Machi★Asobi, it features stages and exhibits of participating works at various venues throughout the city. Vol. 30 will be held on May 16–17, 2026, with more than 100 programs planned—its largest scale to date—including a stage for the TV anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Mahoutsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night). Live artist performances are also scheduled.

Retra! Suito FestivalTokushima Prefecture, Fri 7/17–Sun 7/19

“Retra! Suito Festival” is an evolved event from the Tokushima Hyotan Island Suito Festival, which was first held in 2015 with the concept of rediscovering the appeal of Tokushima City’s river basins and waterside environment. It has continued in a merged format combining Tokushima Suito Festival—which revived the Tenjin Festival fireworks display that was discontinued over a decade ago—the Tokushima Hyotan Island Expo, and Symbol Park, a pedestrian paradise hosted by the Tokushima Junior Chamber. In July 2026, it will be held over three days centered around Aibahama Park, offering an immersive experience of the charms of “Water City Tokushima.”
