Wakka FestThursday, 3/26, Ishikawa Prefecture

This is an event hosted by AAB Akita Asahi Broadcasting, a television station in Akita Prefecture. To promote regional revitalization and share the appeal of Akita’s traditional festivals and customs, performances will be given by artists connected to Akita and by artists who support the initiative. There will even be a free online stream, so those who can’t attend in person can still make it in time! The stream will also feature the Akita Kanto Festival and the Nishimonai Bon Odori, so if you haven’t seen them before, be sure to check it out.

Sakae Minami Music FestivalSat 5/9–Sun 5/10, Aichi Prefecture

Sakae is a district in Nagoya City lined with fashion buildings, attracting large crowds—especially young people. Centered around Sakae and spanning a wide area with numerous venues, this is a free-admission circuit festival featuring a substantial number of performing artists.

FREEDOM NAGOYASat 5/16–Sun 5/17, Aichi Prefecture

Freedom once overcame a crisis of cancellation through crowdfunding. It’s a “thank-you” festival for music fans, with a strong commitment to keeping admission free. On the day, live performances will take place one after another across multiple stages. Odaka Ryokuchi, the venue, is a pleasant spot with plenty of trees and lawns, and it’s also close to the station—access is excellent.
