Onece againS-kaine

TRY-ANGLE vol.8 S-kaine LIVE SHOW “Onece again “
Onece againS-kaine

If we’re talking about the most rapidly rising young battle MC, isn’t it S-kaine? His biggest appeal is an overwhelming composure you wouldn’t expect from someone so young.

It’s the kind of calm that reminds you of K-Kyu from the 1st High School Rap Championship (lol).

As a battle MC, he’s still developing, but if he sharpens his rebuttal game, I think he could make it to the main stages of UMB or Sengoku.

As for recorded tracks, he already feels pretty complete.

“Once again” is a dope piece that doesn’t sound like it was made by someone in their teens!

A storm over flowersNaica MC

NAIKA MC is a top-tier rapper who even claimed the title of Japan’s best with a non-rhyming style.

In battles, NAIKA cuts down tough opponents with heavy-impact punchlines and a powerful voice, but on record his work is crafted in a sleek, almost opposite style.

That stylish approach is on full display in one of his signature tracks, “Hana ni Arashi,” where you can experience a more lyrical side of NAIKA.

This work is packed with the powerful determination of GADORO, known as a rapper from Miyazaki.

It fuses the sharp rhyming he honed in MC battles with J-REXXX’s reggae flavor, featuring an aggressive beat that stands out even in battle settings.

Released by Nippon Columbia in March 2019 as the opening track of the album “SUIGARA,” it marked GADORO’s entry into the major scene, with the album comprising 12 tracks.

On the visual side, a dynamic music video directed by Kentaro Shima also drew attention.

Brimming with elements that fire up crowds in MC battle arenas, the lyrics capture the stance of facing challenges head-on, encouraging those who want to believe in their own words and move forward.

Consciousness, sharpened.Jinmenusagi

KID NATHAN – Consciousness Is Sharp feat. Jinmenusagi Prod. Ai Chen
Consciousness, sharpened.Jinmenusagi

When it comes to the most successful net rappers, isn’t Jinmenusagi the first that comes to mind? I think many people have a critical image of net rap.

But he’s different.

His lyrics are genuinely real, and he also produces his own tracks—and their quality is among the best in Japan’s hip-hop scene.

His flow is right up there with ID and Chinza DOPENESS.

In the track “Ishiki wa, Saete,” Jinmenusagi comes in during the second half, and his flow is insanely dope, so definitely give it a listen!

I messed up.hannya

I messed up.hannya

A track known as a staple beat for MC battles is one of Hannya’s signature works.

His light, nimble sense of rhythm and flow stands out, and the lyrics—comically depicting everyday troubles and slip-ups—resonate with many listeners.

The way he humorously portrays familiar situations, like being stopped for a police check, is likely why it’s so popular in the MC battle scene.

Included on the album Nekosogi, released in February 2005, this song pairs with a hard-hitting beat produced by SUBZERO to make it a go-to crowd-pleaser at battle venues.

It also goes off live, and with the official music video released on YouTube in 2022, it reached a new audience.

Even those not well-versed in hip-hop are sure to get hooked on Hannya’s world through this track.

Umeda Cypher – Seriously High feat. R-Shitei, KZ, peko, Funk, KOPERU, KBD, KennyDoes (prod. LIBRO)
Seriously highUmeda Saifā

A powerful track by a hip-hop collective born on the streets of Osaka.

Now a staple in MC battles, this song features intricately interwoven flows from the uniquely talented members—led by R-Shitei—that electrify listeners.

LIBRO’s hard-hitting production elevates each member’s exceptional rhyming skills, making it a standout masterpiece.

Included on the album “Never Get Old,” released in January 2019, it has surpassed 10 million views on YouTube.

In 2025, it was also selected as the ending theme for the TV anime Fire Force: Season 3.

It’s an absolute must-listen for anyone who wants to dive deeper into the thrill of MC battles and experience the profound artistry of Japanese rap.

In conclusion

This time, I introduced tracks from some famous battle MCs! Back in the day, people used to say battle MCs’ tracks were lame, but now that battles have grown in popularity and recognition, there are way more dope releases.

In particular, I think ID and Chinza DOPENESS have some of the highest-quality tracks in Japan.

For this feature, I focused on “fun tracks,” “dope tracks,” and “tracks with deep lyricism.” Did you find a favorite? Let this article be your cue to check out battle MCs’ music, too!
