Handmade Halloween lanterns with everyday materials! A big reveal of easy ideas! (21–30)
mini lantern
This is a mini lantern made using an R-1 plastic bottle.
It looks like a real lantern, but it’s easy to make, so give it a try! First, cut the plastic bottle into three equal parts and recycle the middle section since you won’t use it.
Wrap black masking tape around the cut edges of the top and bottom sections, and cover the entire bottom section with black tape.
Finally, cover the cap with black tape as well, make a hole, and attach a chenille-stem handle to finish.
It looks cute if you put ghost stickers or similar on the clear part.
Place an LED tea light or other candle light inside and enjoy.
Lantern made with 100-yen store materials

For those who want to be eco-friendly while trying a DIY project, a jack-o’-lantern made with 100-yen store materials is recommended.
First, buy a solar garden light, a pumpkin-shaped container, and some glass marbles at a 100-yen shop.
Next, cut off the lower part of the solar light; using a saw makes it easy.
Then put the glass marbles into the pumpkin container and embed the solar light there—that’s it.
This way you don’t use fire or batteries, so it’s eco-friendly.
Lantern made with UV resin

In recent years, crafts using UV resin have become popular.
So I’d like to introduce making a Halloween lantern with UV resin.
First, purchase a ready-made lantern.
Then use UV resin to draw any illustrations you like on it.
Adding colorants will give it an even more beautiful finish.
Finally, cure it and you’re done.
If you’re not familiar with handling UV resin, it might be a good idea to learn the basics before giving it a try.
Watching tutorial videos on YouTube is also recommended as a first step.
Made with orange peels

Jack-o’-lanterns are usually made by carving pumpkins, but there’s a way to make them with oranges.
First, cut off the top and bottom of the orange.
Then, just like with a pumpkin, scoop out the insides and cut openings where the eyes and mouth will be.
Because it requires more delicate work than with a pumpkin, be careful not to cut your hands.
Finally, put the top piece you cut off back on as a lid, and you’re done.
The color is cute, too, so little kids are sure to love it.
Monster Lantern

If you want to prepare lots of lanterns while keeping costs down, monster lanterns are perfect.
That’s because you can make them entirely with items from a 100-yen shop, and they’re super easy to put together.
First, gather googly-eye stickers, faux fur, an empty jar, and a candle-style LED light.
Stick the eye stickers on the jar, then put the fur and the candle-style LED light inside—that’s it.
If you want to bump up the quality a bit, coloring the jar itself is also recommended.
