Save time with layered cutting! Spring garland

Save time with layered cutting! Spring garland

Layer sheets of construction paper and cut them together to quickly create cute pieces.

These hanging fairy decorations are perfect for the warm atmosphere of a preschool graduation ceremony.

While the fairies differ in gestures and expressions, most of them are made from the same shapes of construction paper parts.

By stacking and cutting identical shapes for faces, clothes, and other parts, you can save time on your projects.

Many schools hold graduation ceremonies at the end of the school year, don’t they? Try making a spring garland using stacked cutting to shorten your crafting time and put it up as a decoration.

balloon topiary

Topiary is an art form where plants are trimmed into desired shapes.

Let’s try making an easy version using balloons! Put a ball of oil-based clay into a plastic bag, then place it inside a paper cup.

Attach two straws together and tape them to an inflated balloon to make a balloon stick.

Insert the straw end into the clay in the paper cup, then fill the cup with tissue paper flowers to cover the clay.

Drape tulle over the balloon, and near the inflation point attach a tissue-paper flower and a ribbon to finish! Make lots using different colors of tissue paper and ribbon, and decorate the venue with them.

Let’s make a cute flower-shaped wall decoration.

If you use a template, you can mass-produce them, and although they’re simple, the flowers turn out very cute.

First, prepare your template.

Create it so that its angle matches the angle you get when a circle is folded into thirds.

As long as the angle is correct, having a variety of sizes—both large and small—makes it even cuter.

On a round backing, attach petals cut symmetrically according to the template.

It’s simple, yet it has a hint of Scandinavian style and looks very charming.

Using a single color or multiple colors both work well.

Give it a try!

Reusable! Triangle Garland

A triangular garland that instantly brightens up a room when hung indoors.

Make it by cutting construction paper into triangles.

Punch two holes in each triangle and thread a string through them.

If threading is difficult, try wrapping tape around the end of the string to stiffen it—this makes it easier to pass through the holes.

Using colored construction paper or patterned paper like polka dots or stripes will make an adorable garland.

It’ll be perfect not only for graduation ceremonies but also for many other events.

Rainbows seem to symbolize dreams and hopes for the future, making them a perfect theme for graduation ceremonies.

Let’s create a rainbow collage and use it as a wall decoration.

First, tear seven colors of origami paper into fairly large pieces.

Once you’ve torn them, paste them onto a backing sheet, one color at a time.

Finally, attach cotton at both ends to resemble clouds, and you’re done.

It’s easier if you lightly sketch a curved guide line with a pencil first to help you form a smooth arc.
