Butterfly

Graduation-from-preschool season is when you can really feel spring arriving, isn’t it? It’s the time when flowers bloom around town and plants start to sprout.
A butterfly-themed wall decoration is perfect for such a festive season! Since butterflies themselves have a simple shape, this wall decor is easy to try even for those who aren’t confident with crafts.
Fold a sheet of construction paper in half, cut along a butterfly outline, and open it up—the butterfly is complete.
If you’re good at crafts, making a three-dimensional decoration is also recommended.
With a little creativity, you can make something that looks quite professional, so give it a try!
Giant paper flower

Giant paper flowers with striking, oversized blooms are perfect as a graduation ceremony backdrop to celebrate a new beginning.
Let’s make them using five large and five medium petals, plus three small petals.
Prepare a base by cutting a large circle, then, working from the outside in, glue the petals in order—large, medium, then small—shaping the flower as you go while keeping the balance.
To finish, roll a strip of yellow paper with small slits cut into it to form the stamens, and glue it in the center.
For the petals, curling the tips with a pencil to create rounded edges adds elegance and a three-dimensional look—highly recommended!
pigeon

As a symbol of taking off to a new place, a dove-themed wall decoration is perfect for a preschool graduation ceremony.
Many people may already know that doves carry positive meanings.
While they are well known as symbols of peace, doves also represent hope and love.
If you make doves out of origami and put them on the wall, they will make a splendid decoration for the ceremony.
Pairing the doves with a sky background—using light blue construction paper, for example—will give it an even more vibrant look.
paper pom-poms

Decorate the wall with cute, voluminous, flower-like paper pom-poms that are perfect for adding sparkle to a graduation ceremony.
Prepare four sheets of tissue paper, crease them, cut them in half, and stack the pieces.
With eight rectangular sheets stacked, accordion-fold them in 7–8 mm widths and tie the center with thread or fishing line.
Lift each layer firmly from the base, fanning them up one by one, and shape it into a hemisphere to finish.
The back is flat, making it easy to display in various places and allowing for flexible arrangements.
Handmade letters

By adding original handmade lettering to the wall decorations, you can brighten up the graduation ceremony alongside other illustrations and objects.
Since you can make it simply by cutting out the necessary letters from origami paper, it could be fun for teachers and current students to create them together.
Printing letters from a computer and cutting them out is fine, but if possible, we recommend cutting out the teacher’s handwritten letters for a warmer touch.
Be mindful of creating lettering that catches the eye so it doesn’t blend in with the other wall decorations.
three-dimensional flowersNEW!

Let me show you how to make a cute, airy-looking flower.
First, cut construction paper into strips and prepare eight each in two different lengths.
Layer a short strip on top of a long strip, fold them in half without making a crease, then overlap the two ends and staple them together.
Make eight of these parts, gather them with the stapled sections meeting at the center, and secure them.
Finish by attaching a circular center piece made from construction paper.
If you change the paper colors, you’ll get a colorful flower, and if you make the strips longer, you can create a larger flower.
Garland made with paper stripsNEW!

Let’s celebrate the children’s new beginnings with a cherry blossom garland! You’ll need construction paper strips measuring 30 cm × 2 cm and 20 cm × 2 cm.
First, accordion-fold both strips with a width of 5 cm per fold.
Then, change the mountain folds to valley folds and tuck them inward by about 0.5 cm.
Next, use a stapler to connect the ends of the two pieces: staple both ends 1 cm up from the bottom.
Make sure the sections you just folded into valleys gather toward the center when you join them.
Staple the remaining three mountain-fold sections at the same position, and also staple just below the creases at the five points where the mountain folds gather in the center.
Finally, flip the paper over to reverse the front and back, and your cherry blossom is complete! Make several and string them on a cord to finish the garland.
