As a symbol of taking off to a new place, a dove-themed wall decoration is perfect for a preschool graduation ceremony.

Many people may already know that doves carry positive meanings.

While they are well known as symbols of peace, doves also represent hope and love.

If you make doves out of origami and put them on the wall, they will make a splendid decoration for the ceremony.

Pairing the doves with a sky background—using light blue construction paper, for example—will give it an even more vibrant look.

a bouquet of tulips

The delicate charm of tulips, heralds of spring, adds a festive touch to a kindergarten graduation ceremony, doesn’t it? Cut construction paper into tulip petal shapes, rounding them while tapering the tips to a point.

Fold each cut petal in half, then glue three petals together to form the tulip.

When attaching the three petals, angle them slightly to give the tulip petals a sense of movement.

Finally, attach the leaves to the tulip to finish.

By arranging many tulips together, you can create a vibrant wall display that evokes a tulip field.

Wall display made by the children

A collaborative wall display that everyone creates for an important milestone day will become a wonderful keepsake wall that celebrates each child’s growth.

Have the children draw their own pictures on construction paper and cut them out with scissors.

Expressing their happy memories from life at the preschool through pictures or words can also become a valuable time for the whole class to share memories together.

Adding balloons, handprints, or footprints is also recommended.

By honoring the children’s free ideas and feelings as you create, you’ll complete a lovely collaborative wall display for the graduation ceremony.

paper balloon

Balloons can also serve as wall decorations that symbolize children’s dreams and hopes, and our wish for them to spread their wings freely into the future.

Prepare balloons, glue, colored construction paper, and paper tape.

Inflate the balloon to the size you want, then use glue thinned with water to attach cut pieces of construction paper to about half of the balloon.

Once it’s dry, pop the balloon inside, attach paper tape as a decorative handle, and shape it to give it a three-dimensional look—that’s it.

Since the balloon is made from construction paper, be careful during transport so it doesn’t lose its shape.

A hot air balloon made with shoji paper and balloons

The balloon wall decoration, which is also recommended for celebrating new beginnings, has a three-dimensional look and is perfect for a kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Prepare balloons, shoji paper, paint, string, and an empty container.

Before you start, paint your preferred patterns on the shoji paper and let it dry.

Inflate a balloon to the size you want your hot air balloon to be, then stick the cut shoji paper onto the balloon.

When attaching the pieces, use glue diluted with water, and be sure to smooth the paper as you go so it doesn’t wrinkle.

Once you’ve covered it, let it dry for 2–3 days.

When it’s completely dry, pop the balloon inside, attach a basket made from string and the empty container, and your hot air balloon is complete.

Give it a try!

Bouquet made with tissue paper

Bouquet made with tissue paper

Let’s make a lovely bouquet using tissue paper.

For the basic flower part, stack sheets of tissue paper, fold them in an accordion, tie the center, then fan out each layer one by one.

Before spreading them, you can add variety by snipping the edges or cutting them into petal shapes.

Try different colors of tissue paper and combinations of parts to create various flowers.

Paste wrapping paper on the wall, arrange the flowers you made on top, and you’re done! It takes some effort, but it’s a recommended idea that will instantly brighten up the venue.

Garland made with paper strips

Garland made with paper strips

Let’s celebrate the children’s new beginnings with a cherry blossom garland! You’ll need construction paper strips measuring 30 cm × 2 cm and 20 cm × 2 cm.

First, accordion-fold both strips with a width of 5 cm per fold.

Then, change the mountain folds to valley folds and tuck them inward by about 0.5 cm.

Next, use a stapler to connect the ends of the two pieces: staple both ends 1 cm up from the bottom.

Make sure the sections you just folded into valleys gather toward the center when you join them.

Staple the remaining three mountain-fold sections at the same position, and also staple just below the creases at the five points where the mountain folds gather in the center.

Finally, flip the paper over to reverse the front and back, and your cherry blossom is complete! Make several and string them on a cord to finish the garland.
