Karaoke songs that are easy and fun for high school students to sing

Compared to today’s songs, older tracks didn’t pack in as many words.

Because of that, many of them were, on the surface, easier to sing than modern songs.

That doesn’t mean today’s songs are necessarily harder, though.

Since recent songs tend to cram in more words, it’s actually easier to disguise flaws, so depending on the track, some can be quite easy for anyone to sing well.

This time, I’ve picked out songs from that category that I especially recommend for high school students.

We’ll be featuring the latest tracks, so be sure to check it out to the end!

Chanmina is a female rapper who enjoys overwhelming support from young people.

She also has strong vocal ability, and her catchy songs make her extremely popular among high school girls.

Of all her tracks, the one I especially recommend is Meinichi (Death Anniversary).

Despite its dark, dangerous atmosphere, it’s an easy song to sing if you look only at the vocal line, which stays within a narrow range.

Most of the rap parts are easy to perform as well, making it a must-listen for high school students who love hip-hop.

Daichi Miura / Sansan - Music Video - (Theme song for the serialized TV drama “Chimudondon”)

Daichi Miura is one of Japan’s leading R&B singers.

When you hear “R&B,” those who aren’t confident in their vocal ability might feel uneasy, but “Sansan” is unusual among Miura’s songs in that it’s arranged as a straightforward pop tune.

As a result, it’s easy to sing overall, with no parts that require belting, making it approachable even for those who are unsure about their vocal range.

To make it sound good, focus on dynamics between the chorus and the final chorus.

Belt where you should belt and hold back where you should hold back—the way it comes across will change dramatically.

For Freedom[Alexandros]

For Freedom[Alexandros]

A hidden gem by [Alexandros] that’s loved by a wide range of generations both in Japan and abroad.

It’s often performed live, and the edgy English lyrics give it an undeniably cool vibe.

Even though the lyrics are in English, the way the melody and words fit together is spot-on, making it relatively easy to sing—perfect for anyone who wants to add a touch of swagger.

Kazuyoshi Saito – Ballad of a Singer [Live ver.]
Ballad of a SingerSaitō Kazuyoshi

Released in 1997, this is a classic by Kazuyoshi Saito that continues to be covered by many artists.

It’s also a memorable song for me personally—I once heard a senior I admired sing it at a school festival and couldn’t help but cry.

The tempo is relaxed and the key is easy to sing.

How about trying it at karaoke when you’re with someone you like?

As a summer festival song, this signature track by Shonan no Kaze has been loved for years.

It always fires up crowds at festivals and live shows, and it’s a staple summer anthem.

If everyone sings along while twirling their towels wildly over their heads, the excitement is guaranteed.

The rap parts are a bit challenging, but as long as you ride the rhythm with plenty of energy, you’ll be just fine.

Kaiju no Hanabuta (Monster’s Flower Song)Vaundy

This is a song that reminds you of the innocent dreams of childhood.

The story, depicted through Vaundy’s unique worldview, resonates deeply alongside its energetic sound.

The protagonist’s attempt to reclaim a fading passion through the song of someone dear is striking, and it gives courage to those who listen.

Included on the May 2020 album “strobo,” the track was also featured in a Maruha Nichiro commercial, and after its performance at the 2022 Kouhaku Uta Gassen, it became beloved by many.

In 2023, it topped the annual karaoke rankings, and with its upbeat, live-ready feel, it’s the perfect song for anyone looking to get pumped up together at school events or class performances.

This work carefully portrays the inner conflicts born from repeated partings and renewals with a loved one, gently expressing affection and gratitude toward the other person.

The stirring vocals and melody are perfect for karaoke; performing it at school festivals or gatherings with friends—any moment when you want to share feelings—will surely strike a deep chord with listeners.
