Karaoke songs that are easy and fun for high school students to sing
Compared to today’s songs, older tracks didn’t pack in as many words.
Because of that, many of them were, on the surface, easier to sing than modern songs.
That doesn’t mean today’s songs are necessarily harder, though.
Since recent songs tend to cram in more words, it’s actually easier to disguise flaws, so depending on the track, some can be quite easy for anyone to sing well.
This time, I’ve picked out songs from that category that I especially recommend for high school students.
We’ll be featuring the latest tracks, so be sure to check it out to the end!

Ballad of a SingerSaitō Kazuyoshi

Released in 1997, this is a classic by Kazuyoshi Saito that continues to be covered by many artists.
It’s also a memorable song for me personally—I once heard a senior I admired sing it at a school festival and couldn’t help but cry.
The tempo is relaxed and the key is easy to sing.
How about trying it at karaoke when you’re with someone you like?
water lily blossomShonan no Kaze

As a summer festival song, this signature track by Shonan no Kaze has been loved for years.
It always fires up crowds at festivals and live shows, and it’s a staple summer anthem.
If everyone sings along while twirling their towels wildly over their heads, the excitement is guaranteed.
The rap parts are a bit challenging, but as long as you ride the rhythm with plenty of energy, you’ll be just fine.
Is being cute not enough?CUTIE STREET

CUTIE STREET, the idol group that’s all the rage right now.
They’re not just popular with men—many women are fans too—so I think a lot of high schoolers know them.
Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “Is Being Cute Not Enough?”.
Thanks in part to its huge popularity on TikTok, the pre-chorus hook line and the chorus melody are incredibly addictive.
The highest note is a slightly high hi D#, but since it only appears in the final chorus, as long as you set the key with that section in mind, it shouldn’t be difficult to sing overall.
I want to be lovedYumcha
The work “Aisaretai,” which gained popularity mainly among teenagers, is a piece by Yumcha that portrays the feelings of a girl who can’t let go of her love for her somewhat deadbeat boyfriend.
While the lyrics are negative, the melody is brimming with pop charm, resulting in an overall bright tone.
Although the song is on the higher side, the vocal range itself isn’t particularly wide.
With proper key adjustment, most women should be able to sing it without issue.
Yes, with pleasure.kocchi no kento

Singing the latest hits can show you’re on trend, but classic anthems are still essential for getting the crowd going at karaoke.
That’s why we recommend “Hai Yorokonde.” It’s often seen as high and difficult, but that’s only if you try to replicate the falsetto in the chorus; the highest chest note is mid2 F#, which isn’t particularly high.
The song is guaranteed to hype up the room, but since it has many rapid-fire lyrics, make sure you identify your breathing spots in advance.
phantom thiefback number

A digital-only single by back number released in 2021.
Since it was used as the theme song for the drama “Koi wa Deep ni,” many of you may have heard it on TV.
It’s a bright, upbeat track with an easy-to-follow tempo, which I think makes it very singable for high school students as well.
Vocalist Shimizu skillfully switches between chest voice, falsetto, and head voice, so reproducing the same expression does require a fair amount of vocal technique.
If you’re not confident in that area, try lowering the key in karaoke.
I’m sure you’ll still enjoy singing it!

Until I know loveaimyon

This is Aimyon’s 11th single, released on May 26, 2021.
It’s a lively mid-tempo track that’s easy for anyone to get into, with a very catchy, pop vocal melody that’s easy to remember—so I think it’s the kind of song you can casually pick at karaoke and really enjoy singing.
Of course, Aimyon’s own vocals are very powerful even in the high registers, and some people—especially high schoolers—might find that style a bit challenging.
But don’t sweat the small stuff; I hope you’ll just enjoy singing along to the breezy tempo and slightly bouncy rhythm.
And if you’re confident in your singing, by all means show off a powerful performance like hers!
