Karaoke songs that are easy and fun for high school students to sing

Compared to today’s songs, older tracks didn’t pack in as many words.

Because of that, many of them were, on the surface, easier to sing than modern songs.

That doesn’t mean today’s songs are necessarily harder, though.

Since recent songs tend to cram in more words, it’s actually easier to disguise flaws, so depending on the track, some can be quite easy for anyone to sing well.

This time, I’ve picked out songs from that category that I especially recommend for high school students.

We’ll be featuring the latest tracks, so be sure to check it out to the end!

Voice of the Seaurashima tarō (kiritani kenta)

A song performed by Kenta Kiritani as Urashima Taro, born from a hugely popular commercial series.

Along with the commercials’ success, the song quickly became a hit.

Now a staple as both a sea-themed and summer song, it’s memorable for its straightforward lyrics expressing feelings for Oto-chan, Princess Otohime.

With this song, Kiritani also appeared on the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Year-End Song Festival).

Yukopi, the artist who gained nationwide popularity with “Kyoufu All Back,” is back with another hit: “Neoki Yashinoki (feat.

Kaai Yuki).” If you’re a high school student, you’ve probably heard it at least once.

Like the previous track, this one is crafted as a comical song, and the vocal lines are kept simple overall.

It’s a song you can sing without needing a high range, so give it a try!

Wataridori is one of [Alexandros]’s signature songs, released in 2015 as their 10th single overall.

Many of you may recognize it from commercials.

Although this article is about karaoke recommendations for people who aren’t confident singers, I think this song is a bit difficult to sing.

Not many people can hit these high notes easily, so try lowering the key first and find the key that works best for you before singing.

Isn’t YOASOBI’s music a must for today’s younger generation’s karaoke setlist? Ikura’s clear, gentle voice is easy on the ears, but those soaring high notes and powerful projection can feel like a high hurdle—so I bet many people haven’t dared to try singing them.

And some of the songs are so fast you’re left wondering, “When am I supposed to breathe?” That said, Haruka has a relaxed tempo and is one of the more singable tracks in YOASOBI’s catalog.

The lyrics really hit you in the heart, so try singing it out confidently in front of everyone!

Racing into the NightYOASOBI

Racing into the NightYOASOBI

This is the first digital-only single by the Japanese music duo YOASOBI, released in December 2019.

It was written and composed based on Maiya Hoshino’s short story “The Temptation of Thanatos,” which was posted on the novel-sharing site monogatary.com.

The track features an upbeat, pleasant dance rhythm.

In the original recording, the pitch and timing are likely edited with considerable precision, so recreating that in live karaoke singing might be a bit challenging.

Don’t worry too much about that—just enjoy singing it! Of course, trying to mimic those details live could be fun too.

With an unmistakably provocative band name that sticks in your head once you hear it, this is a track from the Japanese loud rock band Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai’s mini-album “Mada Mada Shinmai,” released in April 2015.

Judging from the band name and the song title, you might assume it’s a novelty/comic song, but it’s actually crafted at a fairly high level as a rock tune.

If you’re not confident in your singing and try to perform it exactly like the original, you might end up frustrated.

There are many sections that require high-tone shouts, so it’s important to lower the key just enough that the high notes don’t become too easy, but still have some challenge.

To sing high notes without straining your throat, vocal training lessons are essential, so if you don’t have experience, be careful not to force shouts and hurt your throat.

greatest common divisorRADWIMPS

Among RADWIMPS’ songs, this one doesn’t sit too high in range, so you don’t need to belt.

As long as you stay mindful of the rhythmic timing, you can aim for a high score! In particular, the A verse stays mostly in the mid–low (mid1) range, so it’s good to sing gently, as if speaking.

The range gradually rises from the B verse, but there’s no need to push your voice.

If you keep the breath flowing and imagine resonating in the head, your head voice will take on a chesty quality, and once you find your comfortable spot, it becomes much easier to sing.

Also, some may find the rhythm tricky where the melody gets fast, but since the range isn’t too high, you’ll be fine if you place the notes carefully and sing with precision.

As the pitch climbs, imagine resonating in the head and try keeping it light!
