Masterpieces by male artists known for their captivating high notes. Recommended popular songs.

Even when we say “high-tone voice” or “the allure of high notes,” there are many types of singers: some have a naturally high-sounding speaking voice but don’t actually have a very wide upper range, while others don’t sound particularly high, yet when they sing, you realize they’re actually hitting incredibly high notes.

High tones in male voices in particular often carry a curious sensuality and tend to sound especially appealing to listeners.

This time, we’ve gathered classic songs by male singers whose high notes are especially captivating.

High-tone vocals may now feel like a prerequisite for professional singers, but the ways of expressing them vary greatly from singer to singer.

Enjoy this rich variety of high-tone voices.

It might also give you ideas for your karaoke repertoire if you’re good with high notes!

That said, don’t push yourself when singing high notes! Forcing your throat to squeeze out high notes can often damage your precious voice.

If you’re thinking of trying these songs yourself, be sure to take proper voice training first before you take on the challenge!

POPSTARHirai Ken

Ken Hirai – POP STAR @ Ken’s Bar 2011
POPSTARHirai Ken

It’s a rare uptempo song for Ken Hirai.

Before listening, I wondered if an uptempo track would suit his voice, but professionals are on another level—he matches it perfectly! The music video, with its constantly changing outfits, is also really fun to watch.

TAKE IT BACKDa-iCE

Da-iCE is a five-member dance and vocal group.

While their high-level performances are impressive, their hallmark is a musical style that sets them apart from the K-pop-influenced trends.

Among their songs, a particularly recommended masterpiece known for its soaring high notes is TAKE IT BACK.

Not only is the overall range high, but challenging high-register parts like mixed voice appear repeatedly.

If you want to experience top-tier vocals, be sure to check it out.

Official HIGE DANDism – Same Blue [Official Video]
Same BlueOfisharu Higedan Dism

Official HIGE DANDism’s standout track “Same Blue” was released on October 2, 2024 as the theme song for the anime “Blue Box.” Although it’s still a relatively new release, it has already drawn a lot of attention from listeners.

True to Official HIGE DANDism’s style, the song features high notes throughout.

Not only does it include falsetto, but it also demands advanced high-register techniques like mixed voice, so you’ll need considerable vocal skill to sing it at karaoke.

Be sure to check it out.

When it comes to high-tone vocals, [Alexandros] is the one! The band’s driving sound combined with vocalist Yohei Kawakami’s sharp, light-like high tones is incredibly cool.

Among their many songs, the one I especially recommend is Senkou (Flash).

It was selected as the theme song for the film Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway.

It’s a brisk rock tune, and Kawakami’s soaring high notes make it a truly exhilarating listen!

RAISE THE FLAGSandaime Jē Sōru Burazāzu fromu Eguzairu Toraibu

This is a song by the popular dance-vocal group Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE.

It’s included on their 23rd single “Yes we are,” released in 2019.

It’s a very stylish dance number, and the music video is incredibly cool! The sweet vocals and melody are captivating.

It’s a track I can recommend to both men and women.

LOVE PHANTOMB’z

A signature B’z track that thrills with Koshi Inaba’s soaring high notes and Takahiro Matsumoto’s guitar virtuosity! It became a million seller just two weeks after release and has surpassed 1.86 million copies in total sales.

The title uses the word “phantom,” referring to illusions or ghosts, and it’s said the lyrics were written to evoke an extraordinary romance starring figures like Frankenstein and Dracula.

I deeply admire Inaba’s high-tone voice, which combines power and sensuality, but even if you try to imitate it, your throat tightens up and it’s pretty tough, isn’t it?
