Hilcrhyme’s classic and popular songs
Let me introduce a two-person rap unit, Hilcrhyme, consisting of TOC and DJ KATSU.
In 2009, they released “Shunkashuto” (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), which became a huge topic at the time, hitting number one across various charts such as ringtone rankings, Oricon, and the cable broadcast charts.
The appeal of their music lies in how catchy and easy to listen to it is, even while being rap, which won them great popularity.
Despite their catchy style, the MC TOC used to belong to a hip-hop unit called NITE FULL MAKERS and reportedly performed at B BOY PARK, Japan’s largest hip-hop event.
Now, please enjoy the music of Hilcrhyme, a group with a formidable hip-hop backbone.

Hilcrhyme’s classic and popular songs (31–40)
Rhyme ChroniclesHilcrhyme

As the title suggests, this track stands out for its classic hip-hop lyrics that rhyme from start to finish.
It’s included on the second album, “MESSAGE,” released in 2010.
The song conveys the hunger unique to an artist who still feels there’s so much more to express.
I can’t say it, I can’t say it.Hilcrhyme

It’s the 18th single, released in 2015.
Created as the ending theme for the TV Tokyo anime “Actually, I Am,” this song expresses the frustration of being unable to confess your feelings to someone you like.
It’s a track that perfectly captures adolescent romance and leaves you with a sweet-and-sour feeling.
Your SmileHilcrhyme

This song, which is included on the album FIVE ZERO ONE, is written as a musical depiction of scenes from hanafuda, just as the lyrics describe.
At the final show of the tour at Niigata Prefectural Civic Center, TOC’s parents were in attendance.
Watching intently, what were they thinking as they listened to their son’s singing voice?
UNIQUEHilcrhyme

This is a song by Hilcrhyme that gently delivers a message of encouragement over a laid-back rap.
It was also selected as the theme song for the film “Okashira-tsuki.” The track features an impressive, resonant acoustic guitar tone, and the warmth of the sound seems to highlight the rap’s message.
Its unhurried sense of pace communicates the supportive lyrics clearly.
It prompts you to think about “being yourself” and straightforwardly encourages you to keep moving forward just as you are.
NOISEHilcrhyme

It’s a staple at live shows.
It’s included on their fourth album, LIKE A NOVEL, released in 2012, and the call-and-response in the chorus always gets the crowd going.
The lyrics—saying that no matter how harsh the criticism, the cheers of the fans give them strength—convey the mindset of a performer.

No.109Hilcrhyme

If you express TOC in numbers, it becomes “109.” In this song, “109” is sung as the serial number that represents TOC.
The track presents TOC’s profile in sync with the music—covering details from the year he was born to how many years he’s been rapping.
I feel it could be a great song for getting to know TOC by listening closely to the lyrics.
Side By SideHilcrhyme

This song, whose title conveys the idea of walking alongside the listener through life, is the closing track of the seventh album, “SIDE BY SIDE,” released in 2016.
It’s a masterpiece filled with the strong conviction of a musician who feels that even if something were to happen to them, it would be enough if the songs they created could support someone.
