We’d like to introduce songs by Kyosuke Himuro, the musician who took the world by storm as the vocalist of BOØWY.
Himuro made his solo debut in July 1988, just three months after BOØWY disbanded, and he has continued his solo career ever since.
His straightforward rock sound and refreshing vocals are captivating, and he continues to enchant many fans today.
Interestingly, before forming BOØWY, Himuro was about to quit music and return to his hometown, but just before leaving, he saw an RC Succession concert and became determined to continue with music.

It’s included on the 2013 album “KYOSUKE HIMURO 25th Anniversary BEST ALBUM GREATEST ANTHOLOGY.” It was used as the commercial song for HAL vocational school’s 2012 campaign.
The drums lay down a straight, powerful rock beat, and the hard-edged guitar is striking—within it, Himuro’s fierce shouts hit you straight between the eyes.
SUMMER GAMEHimuro Kyosuke
It’s included on the 1989 album NEO FASCIO.
There’s an anecdote that the idea for this song came to him on the highway, and while he was putting the ideas together at a parking area, he was stopped and questioned by the police because of the scenery.
Its up-tempo, cheerful melody line that evokes the midsummer sun and Himuro’s high-toned vocals match perfectly.
SWEET REVOLUTIONHimuro Kyosuke
It’s included on the 2006 album “IN THE MOOD.” It was used as the ending theme for the variety show “Downtown DX.” The upbeat, flowing rhythm production and the tight, driving guitar riffs feel great, and the ensemble with Himuro’s intense, shouting vocals is snappy and satisfying.
The jungle-style rhythm that comes in partway through also makes a strong impact.
KISS MEHimuro Kyosuke
It’s included on the 1993 album “Memories Of Blue.” It was used as the commercial song for the women’s clothing retail store “Boutique JOY.” The song structure, which starts from the chorus, makes a strong impact.
The ensemble of drums delivering a simple, solid beat and a hard-edged guitar is excellent, and Himuro’s vocals—singing the suspicious lyrics with a bewitching tone—match the track perfectly.
Hold my soulHimuro Kyosuke
It’s included on the 1996 album “MISSING PIECE.” It was the theme song for the drama “Kaze no Keiji: Tokyo-hatsu!” and the first single after his departure from his agency and move to a new record label.
It begins with a beautiful piano tone and unfolds slowly and emotionally, with a chorus that explodes memorably.
Himuro’s sentimental vocals fit perfectly against that backdrop, and it works really well.

It’s included on the 1997 album “I・DE・A.” It was the theme song for the drama “Seigi no Mikata.” Steve Stevens, the renowned guitarist known for supporting Billy Idol, plays guitar on the track.
The hard-edged guitar sound and the powerfully resonant drum beat unfold with real aggression, and Himuro’s straightforward vocals cut through and match it perfectly.

It’s included on the 1995 album “SINGLES.” The song was released as the B-side to the first single, ANGEL.
After an intro that gives off a certain sense of instability, it shifts gears: Himuro’s vocals ride the buoyant boogie rhythm and the track becomes downright delightful.
The intermittent synth sounds add a strong accent throughout.
