Ikimono-gakari’s famous and popular songs

Let me introduce songs by Ikimono-gakari, a wildly popular three-member music group.

Their straight, crystal-clear vocals are incredibly appealing, and you hear their songs in all kinds of settings.

The origin of their group name comes from members Mizuno and Yamashita having been in charge of the class animal-care duty (“ikimono-gakari”) together in elementary school.

From high-energy tracks like “Joyful” to ballads like “Koi Suru Otome,” they have a wide range of songs—enjoy them to the fullest.

Ikimonogakari’s Greatest/Popular Songs (11–20)

hot milkikimonogakari

Apparently the member isn’t good with hot milk, but this song has a warmth that feels just like it.

It has an energy and catchy vibe that totally explains why the crowd breaks into a big sing-along at live shows, and it gives you a comforting, embracing sense of security.

Promise in Madder Redikimonogakari

Scarlet Promise – Akaneiro no Yakusoku (short ver.) – Ikimono-gakari
Promise in Madder Redikimonogakari

This is the song that was used as the CM song for au’s “LISMO!” It has a cute, commercial-like vibe.

Mizuno, who wrote the lyrics and composed the music, revealed that he originally wrote it with the theme of a wedding.

It was apparently performed at Yoshioka’s older brother’s wedding as well.

HANABIikimonogakari

It was used as an ending theme for the anime BLEACH.

It’s their second major-label single, an upbeat and cool track.

The section before the chorus—the B-melody part with the line “In an instant it blooms; it’s a firework”—feels just like a scene from a suspense drama.

Maiden in Loveikimonogakari

It’s the ending theme for the TV show “Renai Bukatsu (Love-Katsu).” It’s a rearranged version of a track that was originally included on an indie album, and it’s said to be “the first song I consciously wrote for a girl to sing.” However, the lyrics are so girlish that it’s hard to believe they were written by a man, so I hope you’ll pay close attention when you listen.

Spring Songikimonogakari

Spring Songikimonogakari

This is the theme song for the Toho-distributed film Detective Conan: The Eleventh Striker.

Unusually for an Ikimonogakari single, the acoustic guitarist Yamashita wrote both the lyrics and the music.

The evocative lyrics, which call to mind the film’s ending, are wonderful.

Ryo Mizuno has said of this song, “The lyrics embody what it means to be a group like Ikimonogakari, and it’s a song filled with more determination than ever before.” It is a moving medium-tempo ballad that sings, “I’m coming to see you, someone precious to me.”

This is the cheering song for the 87th All Japan High School Soccer Tournament.

Before the final match on January 12, 2009, three members appeared and performed this song.

The lyric “I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with who I am now” likely gave the players courage.

Although it was never released as a single, it gained popularity, being performed on music shows and included in the members’ best-of album.
