Set my soul aflameARB

It’s a track that makes you feel a rugged, stout-hearted spirit, with an irresistible sense of urgency! Released as A.R.B.’s single in December 1979, it even has the anecdote that it was recorded without a bassist during the tumultuous period right after the band went independent from their agency.
It’s a song that shouts, over a fiery beat, about the loneliness and way of life swaying in the light and shadow of the spotlight, in the in-between.
In 2011, it also made waves when the character unit TRIPLE H covered it as an insert song for the anime Mawaru Penguindrum.
When you want to charge forward believing in the path you chose, or when you’re frustrated after slamming into an absurd wall, clench your fist and give it a listen.
Sweet JukeboxThe Biscats

Be sure to check out this cute and poppy rockabilly! Centered around Misaki, who’s also active as a model, The Biscats released this track digitally in 2021.
It was chosen as the ending theme for the variety show “King’s Brunch.” The light, breezy vibe is a perfect fit for the word “airy”—it just feels good to listen to! Even if you don’t know about twist dancing, it’ll make you want to get up and move.

An insanely happy rockabilly number that makes you want to dance! It’s a cover by LEARNERS, a band formed around Sara Mary—who’s also active as a model—and Gakuji “CHABE” Matsuda, and it’s included on their album LEARNERS released in December 2015.
Chie Horiguchi’s galloping guitar and Sara Mary’s cute yet punkish vocals match perfectly.

It’s a track that makes you want to get hyped with everyone!
IN THE MOONLIGHTShelly

On a night bathed in moonlight, spending a secret moment for just the two of us… I can’t help but long for such a romantic situation.
This is a track by Shelly, a band based in Kokura, Kitakyushu, included on their third maxi single released in April 2020.
The slap bass over a comfortable shuffle beat and a sound that carries the fiery spirit of Mentai rock are irresistible.
And the bold, take-charge approach in vocalist Kyoji Akiyama’s singing—trying to color the other person in his own hues—makes my heart skip a beat.
