New RoseThe Damned

The legendary band The Damned has continued to lead the British rock scene.
They have produced pioneering works across genres such as punk rock, gothic rock, and psychedelic rock.
Debuting in 1976 with “New Rose,” they became the first British punk band to release a single, and they have long been known for staying at the forefront of their era.
Classic albums like “Damned Damned Damned” and “Machine Gun Etiquette” have secured a firm place in punk history.
Despite numerous lineup changes, their commitment—centered on Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible—to pursuing original, inventive music continues to captivate not only rock fans but also a wide range of listeners across genre boundaries.

WANIMA is a three-piece rock band from Kumamoto.
They made their debut in 2014 with the mini-album “Can Not Behaved!!,” appeared for the first time on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 2017, and released their major first full album “Everybody!!” in 2018.
Their music is rooted in punk rock while also featuring a catchy, pop-infused sound.
Vocalist KENTA’s powerful voice and the tight ensemble of the trio are nothing short of impressive.
They also engage in community-based activities, such as hosting outdoor festivals in their hometown of Kumamoto, and are a band beloved by a wide range of listeners across generations.
Red HotELLEGARDEN

ELLEGARDEN is a rock band from Chiba.
Since their formation in 1998, they have continued to captivate fans in Japan and abroad with their unique musicality and frequent use of English lyrics.
Above all, what makes their many classic songs so appealing is their intensely energetic sound.
Paired with that are words filled with warmth.
That, I believe, is why they’re loved by people of all ages.
As standard-bearers of the punk—and broader rock—scene, this four-piece has secured an unshakable place for themselves, and we simply can’t take our eyes off what they’ll do next.
Stay GoldHi-STANDARD

When you hear the word “melodic hardcore,” the first Japanese band that likely comes to mind is Hi-STANDARD.
Formed in 1991, they debuted in 1994 with the mini-album LAST OF SUNNY DAY.
With exhilarating melodies and a powerful punk sound, they firmly captured the hearts of young listeners.
Their signature songs like Stay Gold and Dear My Friend remain beloved classics to this day.
Albums such as GROWING UP and ANGRY FIST became social phenomena, each selling over 700,000 copies.
MAKING THE ROAD, released on their independent label PIZZA OF DEATH RECORDS, even surpassed the one-million mark—a remarkable achievement.
Although they once went on hiatus, they reunited in 2011 and are sure to keep bringing fresh energy to the punk scene.
Blitzkrieg BopRamones

The Ramones are a four-piece punk rock band from New York.
They formed in 1974 and performed more than 2,000 live shows before disbanding in 1996.
Their simple, catchy three-chord sound became the blueprint for punk rock and had a massive influence on subsequent artists.
Signature songs like “Blitzkrieg Bop” and “I Wanna Be Sedated” are marked by fast tempos and deliberately goofy lyrics.
Their band sound, which strips rock down to its essence, is recommended not only for punk fans but for music lovers of all kinds.
Linda LindaTHE BLUE HEARTS

Despite an activity span of only ten years from formation to breakup, THE BLUE HEARTS had a tremendous impact on Japan’s punk rock scene.
Armed with message-driven Japanese rock rooted in the blues, they electrified junior high and high school students nationwide from the 1980s through the 1990s.
Their 1987 major-label debut, “Linda Linda,” drew attention with its high-speed punk sound and distinctive lyrics, and remains a classic that is still covered today.
Vocalist Hiroto Kōmoto crafted a literary lyrical world, while guitarist Masatoshi Mashima created catchy melodies, and together with the unshakable rhythm section they established a one-of-a-kind band sound.
With signature songs like “Jōnetsu no Bara” (The Rose of Passion), they continue to captivate not only rock fans but a wide range of listeners.
MIND YOUR STEP!SNAIL RAMP

SNAIL RAMP is a ska punk and melodic hardcore band formed in 1995.
Their songs, which blended ska into the melodic hardcore sound that was sweeping Japan’s music scene, gained widespread support.
Many people likely discovered the genre of ska punk through this band.
Their 1999 single “MIND YOUR STEP!” achieved commercial success, reaching No.
10 on the Oricon weekly chart.
They had a significant influence on subsequent bands.
