A song by CHiCO with HoneyWorks chosen as the ending theme for the anime Haikyu!! TO THE TOP.

Aren’t there a lot of middle schoolers who love HoneyWorks’ music? While many of their songs are cute tracks that portray sweet and bittersweet romances, this one has a guitar-rock feel with a sense of speed that suits a sports anime theme.

It’s likely a sound that today’s middle schoolers will find familiar and easy to enjoy.

A Naked Heartaimyon

Aimyong, a musician who represents the late 2010s music scene, is surely indispensable for trend-conscious middle schoolers too! Her songs, which package the classic charm of folk music in a modern sound, are popular across generations.

What’s more, for many younger listeners she’s a charismatic figure and even feels like a spokesperson for their feelings.

This song, of course, will also resonate deeply with the younger generation, with lyrics they can relate to from the bottom of their hearts.

Although it was released in 2019, this song made a huge comeback in 2020.

The catalyst was TikTok, and I think many junior high school students use TikTok.

Many of you have probably seen videos of people singing this song on TikTok.

The way a scent can trigger various memories and events—can’t you, as a junior high schooler, relate to that? The sweet, distinctive chorus melody is so addictive you’ll want to listen to it over and over.

The crisp, cutting guitar sound is super cool! I especially recommend this track to guys who love bands.

It’s a song by Vocaloid producer Kairiki Bear, released in 2018.

The lyrics are cleverly written to fit the melody, and listening to it makes you want to sing along.

It was chosen as the theme song for the live event “v flower DJ NIGHT,” which is how many people discovered it.

Definitely give it a listen!

fireworks (launched into the sky)DAOKO × Yonezu Kenshi

This song, which became the theme for the film “Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or the Bottom?”, is a collaboration between singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu and female singer DAOKO.

DAOKO’s bewitching vocals pair perfectly with Yonezu’s somewhat wistful track.

I think this atmosphere connects closely with the film itself.

I’m sure many people took this song as a cue to check out the tracks DAOKO has released under her solo name.

A lot of people probably like the rock band RADWIMPS, don’t they? For junior high school students, I imagine the song that immediately comes to mind is the one released in 2016.

Of course, they’ve released many other great tracks, and I’m sure many of you love those as well, but if you’re not familiar with them, start with this song! Its story-like, romantic lyrics and driving performance pack in everything that makes them so compelling.

Bakemonogatari ED – The Story You Don’t Know
The Story You Don't Knowsupercell

Featured as the ending theme for the anime Bakemonogatari, this track captivates with a blend of exhilarating freshness and driving momentum.

Although it was released in 2009, the anime’s popularity has helped it remain a beloved song in the anison world to this day.

Many anime music fans may already know it! But this is a track we’d love people outside the anison community to hear as well.

The melody line is incredibly catchy and easy on the ears—you’ll likely find yourself humming along after just one listen.

It’s a song whose simple, straightforward appeal shines through without any need for complexity.
