Dance / Playtime

When there’s dancing and performances, the whole sports day atmosphere instantly becomes more festive.
It’s wonderful when everyone does the same dance together, but since you’re performing as a group, dances that make use of formations are also highly recommended! Try splitting into small groups, then spreading out to form a big circle.
Parents will surely be moved, thinking, “I can’t believe our child can do all this!”
Big Pants Relay

Watching the big-pants relay is so heartwarming! You can have a parent and child each put one leg in, or pair up two kids.
It’s much easier than a three-legged race and suitable even for younger children.
If you make the pants a bit larger, it’s easier to move and less likely to cause falls.
Since you run side by side, the key is to match your rhythm so the two of you don’t get out of sync!
bread-eating contest

Many kids love bread! Bread-eating races are a blast because the prize is clear and tangible.
You can hang the bread from a pole, but it’s even better to have a teacher hold it by hand so the height can be adjusted.
Kids can run on their own, or do it piggyback-style with a parent.
It’s a game everyone can enjoy, letting participants experience the joy of winning a prize!
Hoop diving

This is a hula-hoop event that builds a sense of unity—not only between parents and children, but among everyone on the same team.
First, each team lines up in a single file, alternating parent and child, and holds hands.
Without letting go, they pass a hula-hoop from toe to fingertip, threading it over their bodies and on to the next person.
Teams race to see who can pass it all the way to the end the fastest.
It’s surprisingly tough—and it’s actually harder for adults to get through the hoop than for kids, which is part of the fun.
Cheer hard for your own team, of course, but for the opposing team too, and let’s all get excited and enjoy it together!
marching

How about trying “marching,” which you can enjoy not only with your ears but also with your eyes thanks to its cool performances and movement, at kindergartens and nursery schools? By the time students reach high school, they can put on marching performances that rival those of adults.
While kindergarten and nursery school children can’t handle large or complex instruments yet, it’s a great idea to have them do energetic marching using simple instruments they already use at school—like melodicas, drums, and castanets—so they won’t be outdone by the older students.
Moving while playing is quite challenging, but with plenty of practice, the performance will delight not only the children themselves but also their parents!

artistic gymnastics

Let’s show parents the gymnastics the children usually practice during exercise time at kindergarten or daycare on sports day! In mat exercises, they’ll try forward and backward rolls, and those who can might even attempt a slightly acrobatic move like a cartwheel.
They’ll work hard to jump over the vaulting box and demonstrate forward circles and pullovers on the horizontal bar…
Sports day is the perfect time to show how much they’ve grown and how hard they’ve been practicing! Seeing their children doing their best is sure to bring tears to parents’ eyes.
Non-stacking group gymnastics
This is “non-contact group gymnastics,” where individuals perform solo moves in succession or coordinate them simultaneously in large numbers.
By synchronizing poses to music, it conveys a unique sense of beauty and power.
At the beginning and end, stand tall with your chest out, imagining a full stretch from your back all the way to your fingertips.
The time-lagged fireworks formation has a domino-like impact that is thrilling to watch.
The collective beauty born from each person’s serious dedication to the routine moves the audience.
