[Christmas Songs] Christmas songs to sing with children (61–70)
Glory in the highest

It’s a hymn composed by Mendelssohn.
When you listen to it, it may not seem like a song for children, but in fact it was once used as the ending theme of the animated special “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” If you know a child who loves Snoopy, be sure to introduce it to them.
The melody is easy to remember, so it would be fun for a large group of children to sing it together in a chorus.
Christmas is coming soon.sakushi sakkyoku: Mine Masanobu

We decorate Christmas trees with all kinds of ornaments, don’t we? “Christmas Is Coming Soon” is a playful song that lets you experience decorating a tree.
You make a tree over your head, form numbers with your fingers, and use those fingers to represent ornaments—simple, but a lot of fun.
It’s also great to actually decorate while singing.
Coming up with original ornaments nurtures imagination, and figuring out how to represent them with your fingers helps develop thinking skills.
Be sure to enjoy it at Christmas!
fir treeComposer/Lyricist: Unknown
Japanese lyrics translation: Tomoko Nakayama

It’s one of the Christmas carols sung around the world.
The oldest Japanese translation is by Tansuke Noguchi, and it seems there are multiple versions.
When we think of Christmas trees, we think of fir trees, but some children might not know that.
If you teach them while singing this song as you decorate, they might be delighted.
Joy to the World

This is the song known in Japan as the Christmas carol “Morobito Kozorite.” In English-speaking countries, it’s sung with the lyrics of “Joy to the World,” and has been covered by artists like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
It’s such a beautiful song that you can’t help but fall in love with it after just one listen.
That is my wish for Santa Claus.

It’s a Christmas song composed by Tadao Harasaki.
It’s definitely a song we’d love children who are looking forward to presents from Santa to hear.
The lyrics, written from Santa Claus’s perspective, are adorable and very soothing.
Christmas all year round

“Christmas All Year Round” is a Japanese children’s song themed around Christmas.
It’s a “what if” song that wonders, “What if every day of the year were Christmas?” Children have rich imaginations, so they would likely have a lot of fun listening to this song.
Pen Pineapple Apple Pen (PPAP) Christmas ver.WHITE JAM

This is a cover of the Christmas version of PPAP, which was a huge hit in 2016.
Although the phrase “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” makes no sense at all, it’s sung with heartfelt emotion—both wistful and passionate.
PPAP is hugely popular among children, but how will they react to this PPAP with a different vibe than usual?
