The 12 Days of Christmas

“The Twelve Days of Christmas” doesn’t quite resonate in Japan, but in Christianity, people celebrate the twelve days from Christmas to Epiphany.
The song is like a counting rhyme of the dates, and once you learn it, it’s a fun and unique tune.
Be sure to give it a listen at Christmas!
Merry Christmas

The Christmas carol “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is known in Japan as “Omedetō Christmas.” It’s a classic Christmas song you often hear when the city is lit up with illuminations.
Its gentle melody is perfect for a special Christmas night.
The Nutcracker

This is The Nutcracker, a ballet score composed by Tchaikovsky.
Even if the title doesn’t ring a bell, it’s probably a piece everyone has heard at least once.
The story is set on Christmas Eve.
With melodies that are easy for children to enjoy, it’s a great recommendation for Christmas background music.
Ding Dong Merrily on High (Ding Dong Takaraka ni)

It was originally a piece composed in France for dancing, but after English lyrics were added to the music, it was repurposed as a Christmas carol.
Since it started as a dance tune, it’s catchier than other Christmas carols, isn’t it? With this, even children could probably memorize the melody right away.
Happy Lucky Christmas

Shimajiro, the beloved character from “Kodomo Challenge,” a hit with little kids! This song, where Shimajiro and his friends sing and dance, is perfect for children’s Christmas parties.
It includes call-and-response shouts and playful number games, making it fun and a bit educational too! Let’s share the happy Christmas spirit not just for ourselves, but with our family and friends around us, and spend a joyful Christmas together.
It’s a Christmas song filled with kindness.
Glory in the highest

It’s a hymn composed by Mendelssohn.
When you listen to it, it may not seem like a song for children, but in fact it was once used as the ending theme of the animated special “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” If you know a child who loves Snoopy, be sure to introduce it to them.
The melody is easy to remember, so it would be fun for a large group of children to sing it together in a chorus.
Christmas is coming soon.sakushi sakkyoku: Mine Masanobu

We decorate Christmas trees with all kinds of ornaments, don’t we? “Christmas Is Coming Soon” is a playful song that lets you experience decorating a tree.
You make a tree over your head, form numbers with your fingers, and use those fingers to represent ornaments—simple, but a lot of fun.
It’s also great to actually decorate while singing.
Coming up with original ornaments nurtures imagination, and figuring out how to represent them with your fingers helps develop thinking skills.
Be sure to enjoy it at Christmas!
