[Childcare] I want to have fun with the kids! Sample Questions for a Me Quiz

A self-quiz is a quiz you make about yourself.

The fact that only the quizmaster knows the correct answers makes it exciting and thrilling, doesn’t it?

For children, quiz games are fun but tend to be a bit challenging.

So this time, we’ve collected example questions for self-quizzes that are easy for kids to create.

The experience of having the teacher and classmates think about the answers will be valuable both for the quizmaster and for the other children.

When you learn the answers, you discover yet another new side of your friends.

Try incorporating this into your playtime with children.

Where is your favorite place in daycare or kindergarten?

Where is your favorite place in daycare or kindergarten?

In the kindergarten or daycare where children spend long hours, they surely have favorite places.

Why not turn that into a quiz? That said, if you just say “a place,” the children might not know how to answer.

Start by giving specific examples like “the classroom,” “the playground,” or “the hall.” It’s also a great idea to ask why they chose that spot.

Hearing about fun times with friends, for example, can help you discover a new side of each child.

What is the game I like?

What is the game I like?

This quiz asks: What is the game I like to play? Close friends might be able to guess the answer right away from the person’s usual behavior.

If it’s hard to guess, the teacher could give hints such as whether it’s a game played indoors or outdoors, or how many people play it, or allow questions from other children to make it more exciting.

It might also be good for the teacher to act out the game with gestures.

What month was I born?

What month was I born?

Even if children know which month they were born in, they don’t usually know their friends’ birth months.

So let’s turn it into a quiz where they guess each other’s birth month.

Someone might remember from looking at birthday parties or birthday charts.

It could also be fun to think about how to give hints together with the teacher.

Plus, children who share the same birth month might feel closer to each other.

By learning about many friends’ birth months, their interest in their friends will grow.

What did you have for breakfast today?

What did you have for breakfast today?

Some of you might be curious about what other kids had for breakfast.

The theme of this quiz is: What did you have for breakfast today? In addition to staple foods like bread or rice, it could be fun to guess, in order, everything the child ate or drank in the morning—such as rolled omelets, sausages, fruit, and more.

If you first guess the staple food and then the side dishes, everyone might end up learning a lot about different foods.

This quiz is also great for food education, so it comes highly recommended.

What is the most enjoyable time at daycare or kindergarten?

What is the most enjoyable time at daycare or kindergarten?

What do children like to do in their free time? Some like playing outside, some prefer reading picture books indoors, and others enjoy crafts or building blocks.

Each child has their own favorite way to spend time.

So how about asking a quiz question: “What time at daycare or kindergarten do you look forward to the most?” Friends who often play together might answer right away.

And once others know how a child likes to spend their time, kids who enjoy the same activities might invite them to play together.

Since the concept of “how you like to spend your time” can be hard for children, the teacher should first ask and answer the question themselves to model how to think about it.

Which do you like, dogs or cats?

Which do you like, dogs or cats?

Dog person or cat person… this is quite a tough question, isn’t it? Both have their cute sides, so I think many kids like both! But if you clearly prefer one, it’s fun to turn it into a personal quiz.

When someone gets the answer right, try talking about why you like that one.

Since your friends probably include both dog lovers and cat lovers, if the quiz-giver is a dog person, they could also interview a cat-loving friend and ask them to share what makes cats so cute.

In conclusion

We introduced example questions for self-quizzes that can be incorporated into childcare.

Being able to ask and answer quizzes is a big step in children’s development, isn’t it? Rather than focusing on whether answers are right or wrong, it would be great if they can enjoy the quizzes themselves as a form of play.
