This is a riddle where the answers end with the syllable “sai.” It’s easy enough for small children to understand, and depending on the prompt, answers like “gomen nasai” (I’m sorry) or “yame nasai” (Stop that) can even make adults chuckle a bit.
Kids will probably feel confident and eager to answer, too, don’t you think?
Vegetable Riddles
Bitter, astringent, and sometimes even slimy depending on the type—vegetables can be a formidable foe for kids.
Plenty of middle and high schoolers are fine with stir-fried veggies but struggle with raw ones.
I’ve heard that the bitterness of green peppers and the harshness of carrots have been made much milder through selective breeding, but many kids still avoid them.

Instead of just asking the questions out loud, you could turn them into a picture-story or mini theater with illustrations, and make the answers into illustrations too—this makes them easier to understand and more exciting.
