Kids love quizzes!

When you give them a quiz, they go “Hmm…” and think hard, and the moment they figure out the answer, their eyes light up and they give you the happiest smile.

Quizzes nurture thinking and imagination, and they can spark interest and curiosity in all kinds of things.

You’ll definitely want to include lots of them.

In this article, we’ll introduce quizzes recommended for kindergartens and nursery schools!

From ones you solve in your head to those you enjoy with all five senses—seeing, hearing, touching—these are all activities that spark children’s curiosity.

If you incorporate themes kids love—like animals, fruit, vehicles, or popular characters—it gets even more exciting.

Be sure to use them during free play time or as part of a fun event, and enjoy them together!

Spot the Difference Quiz

[Spot the Differences] Doraemon and Dorami-chan! The mistakes are unbelievable. Mean-spirited? Note: There are 7 mistakes on Dorami-chan! Sorry.
Spot the Difference Quiz

You know those “spot the difference” sections in newspapers and magazines? Even when you only glance at them, before you know it you’re seriously hunting for the differences—has that ever happened to you? Kids love them too, so let’s get everyone excited with a Spot-the-Difference quiz.

You can use commercially available books, or have fun making your own.

Using characters kids love, like Doraemon or Chibi Maruko-chan, will really spark their interest! They’re also great as activities for birthday parties.

Parts Quiz

Children are often interested in things like animals, vehicles, and food.

How about turning that into a quiz by showing them parts little by little without revealing the whole thing? We can call it the “Parts Quiz.” For animals, you could show a distinctive part such as the tail, legs, or eyes and have the kids guess from that.

For vehicles, tires or even just a silhouette would work.

Since the quiz is about things they like, the kids will definitely get excited.

And don’t forget to include anime characters like Doraemon and Chibi Maruko-chan in the questions, too!

Silhouette quizzes are a big hit in preschool activities! Usually, the questions are made using the shadows of familiar tools or foods, but why not try using the teachers’ silhouettes once in a while? That said, it can be hard to guess correctly from just a silhouette.

That’s where this item comes in! Attach a photo of the teacher to a piece of thick paper with a handle, then cover the photo with a strip of black construction paper so the picture can’t be seen.

Put a loop of tape at the center on the back of the construction paper to stick it on.

This way, you can peel back the construction paper from both sides to reveal parts of the face, making it easier for the children to guess.

Intro Quiz

[Kindergarten] Quiz: Intro
Intro Quiz

There’s always music in educational settings, isn’t there? With eurhythmics, hand-play games, and singing, it feels like children grow up alongside rhythm and melody.

Let’s play a kids’ version of the TV show “Quiz Doremifa Don” called an Intro Quiz and get everyone excited together.

From nursery rhymes and Ghibli classics to, these days, even Johnny’s and K-pop that little kids can sing—let’s be sure to weave those songs in too.

Adding rules like “everyone sings the song once it’s guessed” or “we dance to the correct song” would make it even more fun!

This is a quiz where you partially draw pictures on transparent sheets, and when you stack them all together, players guess what the final picture is.

Draw them in order starting from the first sheet, and when you’re done, ask, “What could it be?” It’s a game that helps develop thinking skills while having fun, because you need to consider which part each illustration represents, find possible answers, and compare them.

The illustrations should be motifs that children are very familiar with.

If you’re doing it for a birthday, a present box is a great choice!

Switcheroo Quiz

Switcheroo Quiz

How about trying a quiz where you swap parts of an illustration and guess what’s changed? First, show an illustration and have everyone memorize it, then drop the curtain.

When the curtain rises again, try to spot what has been switched.

Start with easy ones and gradually increase the difficulty.

Using original illustrations to adjust the difficulty makes it easy to tailor the game to different ages, so it’s highly recommended.

It’s a lively group game where everyone chats and gets excited, saying things like, “This part is different!” and “That part changed!” while figuring it out together.
