We’ve gathered lots of ideas for activities you can enjoy with children during the cold winter months!
In addition to outdoor and playground activities that let kids interact with natural materials like snow, ice, and nuts, we’re introducing plenty of options for getting bodies moving to warm up, as well as traditional games that have been passed down through the years.
When it gets cold, we tend to stay indoors, but it’s a great chance to show kids that moving their bodies helps them warm up.
Incorporate a variety of activities and enjoy the winter season together with children—keeping both hearts and bodies warm and full of energy!

Winter activities you can enjoy at daycare! Outdoor and nature play that warm the body and soul (31–40)
Jumping a long rope to the rhythm of the song

In winter it’s cold, so drawing, crafts, and building blocks tend to become the main activities, but sometimes you want to move your body and play, right? In that case, how about trying long rope jumping? As you jump, your body warms up, and it’s fun to challenge yourselves to see how many times everyone can jump together.
There are also several songs you can sing while doing long rope jumping, such as “The Postman’s Lost Item,” “A Lone Crow,” “Mr.
Bear, Mr.
Bear,” and “Young Lady, Please Come In.” These are great to play along with, too!
Making a spinning top with a paper cup

Here’s a fun winter craft idea: a spinning top made from a paper cup! Start by marking the rim of the cup so the side is divided into eight equal sections, then cut along the marks with scissors.
Be careful not to cut all the way to the bottom—leave about 1 centimeter uncut from the base.
Spread the cut sections outward to form a flower-like shape.
Next, trim the edges and decorate as you like.
Make the axle from origami paper.
You can create it by doing the “zabuton” fold three times, so it’s easy enough for kids to try.
Finally, insert the axle into the inside of the paper cup, and it’s done! It’s perfect for playing with around New Year’s.
In conclusion
We’ve introduced some recommended winter activities.
By incorporating activities that match children’s ages and interests, we can deepen their engagement with the season.
When playing outdoors on cold days, don’t forget to dress appropriately for the temperature.
It’s also important to check in advance for hazards like icy ground and set up the environment so children can play more safely.
When playing in the snow, review the rules for snow play together with the children before you start.
Enjoy winter activities together and have a wonderful time.
