KISS MEHimuro Kyosuke

As you know, this is a signature song by Kyosuke Himuro, the vocalist of the now-legendary band BOØWY.

Himuro is such an iconic presence that people even coined the term “HIMUROCK,” blending his name with rock—and his influence on later artists is immense.

Words that color the lyrics, like “ROUGE” and “HIGHWAY,” have a refined, urban sophistication that’s electrifying.

The lyrics, which charge forward with a bold “kiss me,” deliver an exhilarating rush along with the music.

And don’t miss the music video—it’s so polished you’d never guess it was made back in 1993!

The love song KissHug, which expresses the bittersweet feelings of unrequited love, was released in July 2008.

It was used as an insert song in the film Hana Yori Dango F (Final) starring Mao Inoue, and drew attention as Tsukushi’s theme, playing during memorable scenes featuring the protagonist, Tsukushi Makino.

Many listeners may have found themselves relating the gentle vocals of aiko and the poignant lyrics to their own love stories.

With a melody that also evokes the freshness of summer, it’s a memorable track that lingers in the heart.

Some of you might remember the commercial for Furuche.

This single was released in 2007 along with “SHE no Jijitsu.” It has a happy, uplifting vibe that always energizes the crowd at live shows, and the lyrics are super cute with tons of references to kisses! Even though they sing “hot,” it still feels so refreshing—maybe because it’s AAA performing it.

Uno-chan’s vocals are fantastic, and it’s the kind of kiss-themed song that will lift your mood on a date.

Listening to it makes you feel incredibly bright and cheerful!

Let’s count your kissesKoyanagi Yuki

Let's Count Your Kisses – Yuki Koyanagi (Full)
Let's count your kissesKoyanagi Yuki

There was a time when Yuki Koyanagi, Namie Amuro, and Mai Kuraki were called the three great divas of the Heisei era.

Among them, Yuki Koyanagi, who unabashedly showcased her high-tone voice and sang of the times, was truly sensational.

The lyrics, themed around a love that has ended—“When I recall each and every kiss, all sorts of things come back to me”—feel like rereading someone’s diary and are deeply heartrending.

Even the phrase “counting kisses” carries a certain melancholy.

The song was also used as the theme for the anime Reign: The Conqueror, which aired on WOWOW.

Kissing You of ApologyE-girls

E-girls / “Kissing You, I’m Sorry” ~Short ver.~
Kissing You of ApologyE-girls

It was released in 2013 as E-girls’ sixth single.

The song was chosen as the theme for the Toho-distributed film “The Apology King,” starring Sadao Abe.

It’s a dance number in which, after her boyfriend finds out she had a meal with a male friend, she conveys her apology and love to him with a substitute-for-words kiss instead of desperately pleading.

The apology dance is super cute, too.

Let’s trade kisses instead of talking about love.WANDS

This is a massive hit that took the world by storm back in the day, showcasing a gloriously classic band sound in the best possible way.

For people in their 40s and 50s, it’s a quintessential youth anthem.

The lyrics are by Sho Uesugi, and the composition is by Tetsuro Oda, a powerhouse producer and artist—no wonder it set everyone on fire! True to the song’s title, the lyrics capture the very core of young love: “We don’t need words—let’s kiss.

As long as you’re here, that’s enough.” And the choice to avoid explicitly using the word “kiss” is a brilliant touch.

This is one of WANDS’ biggest hits, a song that broadened the band’s fan base significantly.

A collaborative song by female singer-songwriter Aimyon and actor-artist Masaki Suda, Kiss Dake de.

Released in 2019, the song was written and composed by Aimyon.

It portrays a man and a woman who want to hold each other and share a kiss, while their feelings intersect.

You can gently sense how deeply they care for and think about each other.

Its calm, tender melody suits nighttime perfectly.

It’s a song you’ll want to listen to with someone you love or your partner.
