FACES PLACESKimura Kaera

Kaela Kimura / “FACES PLACES (#globe20th - SPECIAL COVER BEST -)”
FACES PLACESKimura Kaera

Released in 2015, this track is included on globe’s special cover album and is Kaela Kimura’s cover of globe’s ninth single, originally released in 1997.

Unlike KEIKO’s taut, high-tone vocals in the original, this version carries a gentler feel, giving the song a different impression.

It feels less like the classic Komuro sound of that era and more like a modern take on the Komuro sound.

a song is bornHamasaki Ayumi & Keiko

Released in 2001, this song is by a collaborative unit of Ayumi Hamasaki and KEIKO.

It was one of the tracks planned by Tetsuya Komuro and Masato Matsuura as part of a charity project in response to the September 11 attacks in the United States.

According to accounts, the unit’s pairing was freely chosen, and Ayumi Hamasaki personally selected KEIKO.

At her own request, Hamasaki wrote the lyrics.

My Planethitomi

hitomi — My Planet (Tatsumaki Remix)
My Planethitomi

“MY PLANET” by HITOMI is a song composed by Tetsuya Komuro, and it also drew attention for having lyrics written by HITOMI herself.

Like her other songs, it serves as an encouraging anthem for women.

GOOD MORNING-CALLKoizumi Kyoko

“GOOD MORNING-CALL” is the 25th single released by Kyoko Koizumi in 1988.

The song also drew attention because Koizumi herself composed it.

It was also well-loved as the commercial song for Knorr Cup Soup.

CANDY GIRLhitomi

hitomi / CANDY GIRL(Short Ver.)
CANDY GIRLhitomi

Released in 1995, this is hitomi’s third single.

Since her debut in ’94, Mr.

Komuro consistently served as her producer.

Although hitomi didn’t see much success at first, the song gradually gained popularity after being used in a tie-in with a certain film manufacturer.

Its peak position was No.

15 on the Oricon sales chart, so it never broke into the top ten, but as recognition slowly grew, it ultimately became the best-selling single among hitomi’s releases.

Don’t wanna cryAmuro Namie

Namie Amuro – Don’t wanna cry (TK PAN PACIFIC TOUR ’97 1997.05.27)
Don't wanna cryAmuro Namie

Released in 1996, this is Namie Amuro’s fifth solo single.

It was frequently heard as a tie-in song for a beverage brand.

The song is characterized by its upbeat, forward-looking lyrics and lively rhythm, and the inclusion of a cappella-style choruses is one of its distinctive features.

Also, perhaps due to her image as an Okinawa-born artist, she had many songs that evoked intense dance music and sunshine, but since coming under Tetsuya Komuro’s production, I feel that image was blown away in a good way.

This track is one such example.

Feel the RevolutionsMIYUKI

“Feel the Revolutions” is the debut single by MIYUKI, who became a hot topic on TV Tokyo’s ASAYAN in 1998 for her close contest in the vocalist audition finals against Ami Suzuki for a debut spot.
