Female vocal songs where women with low voices can shine

In Japan, where a high voice is often considered “good,” the reason originally lies in the country’s agrarian roots.

To communicate by voice with farmers working at a distance, a higher, more intelligible pitch was more convenient; thus, in Japan and other agrarian Asian societies, people with higher voices have traditionally been preferred.

However, when it comes to singing, higher is not always better!

In fact, lower voices have overwhelming advantages in overtones and resonance.

So this time, we’ve picked out songs that bring out the maximum charm of women with lower voices!

Of course, we also selected them with karaoke appeal in mind, so if you’re a woman with a drinking party or group date coming up, this is a must-see.

Female vocal songs where low-voiced women can shine (21–30)

Right now, rapper Litty is rapidly gaining momentum on the female rap scene.

With catchy lyrics and a musical style that modern women can relate to, she’s been attracting growing popularity—and even more attention since the start of 2025.

Among her tracks, the one I especially recommend is “Ride or Die.” Its melodic rap leans heavily into the vocal side, and because it’s sung in a low key throughout, it’s the perfect song to bring out the allure of women with deeper voices.

Azusagawa is a vocalist who’s currently attracting attention in the utaite scene.

They haven’t explicitly stated their gender, but based on their voice, they’re probably male.

That said, it’s not a typical male voice—it’s a uniquely pitched tone that could be described as a low-voiced female, so this time I’m recommending them especially for women with lower voices.

Their track “Disco FLO” features a chic, downer vibe, with the vocal line emphasizing the low to mid range.

If you sing with breathy overtones mixed in, you’ll get closer to the original feel, so definitely use that as a reference.

fortnighteill

Eill is a female singer-songwriter who has gained popularity with a stylish sound inspired by Western music.

If you’re a woman looking for chic tracks, you’ve probably heard her songs at least once.

Among eill’s catalog, the one I especially recommend for women with lower voices is “fortnight.” It’s a refreshing track, but the A section is centered around low notes, and both the B section and the chorus are built mainly around mid-range, which helps emphasize the depth and richness of a lower female vocal.

foreignerKUBOTA Saki

Foreigner – Saki Kubota (Full)
foreignerKUBOTA Saki

It was Saki Kubota’s debut single, released in October 1979.

She seems to have been 21 at the time, but even at that young age her mature voice and confident singing could be called astonishing.

The high notes in the section where the song shifts to a major key are great, but her richly resonant low register is especially captivating.

The song features a somewhat oriental-tinged, continental melody and arrangement—as suggested by its subtitle, “Theme of the Silk Road”—and I think its vividly cinematic expression is outstanding.

This is tuki.’s debut single, released in September 2023.

It’s a track where the simple arrangement that highlights the acoustic sound and tuki.’s emotionally rich vocals are a perfect match.

To sing the A-melody and B-melody parts beautifully, a deep, low register is essential! So I’d especially recommend it at karaoke for women who are good at lower notes.

That said, the vocal melody spans a fairly wide range, so be sure to practice smoothly switching from chest voice to falsetto in the high sections, such as the chorus.

forgotten bloomGARNET CROW

This is GARNET CROW’s 17th single, released in November 2004.

It was used as the ending theme for the TV anime Detective Conan.

Yuri Nakamura, who serves as the vocalist for GARNET CROW, is a captivating singer with a voice that’s almost boyish.

Thanks to the distinctive qualities of Nakamura’s vocals, this song is also one of the best choices for low-voiced female singers as a karaoke pick.

The vocal melody doesn’t cover a very wide range, and the tune itself is easy to hum and enjoy, so be sure to select it casually at karaoke and give it a try.

AldebaranAI

AI – “Aldebaran” (official video)
AldebaranAI

This is a song by AI that was also used as the theme for the NHK morning drama series Come Come Everybody.

Naotaro Moriyama wrote both the lyrics and the music, and you can feel a gentle yet powerful warmth that seems to embrace everything.

The vocals showcase AI’s strengths in R&B and soul, and her husky voice makes the kindness and strength of the lyrics come across directly.

It’s a track whose powerful, far-reaching delivery gives strength to those who listen.
