Harmony at Summer’s EndInoue Yosui & Anzen Chitai

A masterpiece released in 1986.
The lyrics are by Yosui Inoue and the music is by Koji Tamaki.
It always moves me, but I especially want to listen to it at the end of summer.
It stays close to feelings of meeting and parting, doubt and anxiety, gently wrapping them all up.
Their voices are just incredible and truly resonate in the heart.
It’s the very definition of a miraculous harmony and collaboration.
Like how it’s occasionally covered on music programs, it’s a song I want to love and keep listening to no matter how many eras pass.
Instead of goodbyeTUBE × GACKT

This gem of a ballad features a beautiful harmony created by the collaboration between TUBE and GACKT that resonates deeply in the heart.
Their two voices gently sing about the universal themes of encounters and farewells.
The music video stars Yutaka Matsushige and Kenichi Endo, whose wordless drama delivers a profoundly moving performance.
Released in February 2024, the song was first unveiled at the FNS Music Festival in December 2023, touching the hearts of many.
It’s a heartwarming piece I recommend to those who have experienced parting with a loved one or who wish to express their gratitude to someone dear.
Be My BabyCOMPLEX

What stands out most about this song is, without question, its powerful, one-of-a-kind intro.
The way the title phrase “BE MY BABY” is repeated, layered over the beat as it builds, is addictive and leaves a strong impression after just one listen.
It’s a classic by COMPLEX, the rock duo formed by two Japanese legends, Koji Kikkawa and Tomoyasu Hotei; the catchy refrain delivered by these two impossibly cool artists set all of Japan ablaze.
Enchanting Harmony: Classic Songs by Japanese Male Duos (41–50)
Curtain Call feat.TakaShimizu Shota

Curtain Call feat.
Taka is a classic by Shota Shimizu and ONE OK ROCK’s vocalist, Taka.
Since the two are known to be close in private as well, the release caused quite a stir among fans of both artists at the time.
The piece itself is very simple for a duet.
Rather than harmonizing, the focus is on singing in unison, so there’s no need to worry about getting pulled off pitch by your partner.
The vocal line has a somewhat R&B feel, which brings its own challenges, but even so, it can be considered a relatively easy song.
NO MORE CRYD-51

D-51 is a vocal duo consisting of YU and YASU from Okinawa Prefecture.
NO MORE CRY was released in 2005 and was used as the theme song for the TV drama Gokusen.
Many of you may remember it well, as the song led to their appearance on NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
Their refreshing sound, with the two voices blending so comfortably, makes you want to start running when you listen.
It’s an uplifting support song that gives you a push when you’re troubled or feel like you’re about to lose.
