Mrs.

GREEN APPLE has produced many masterpieces.

Their songs are often difficult, but among them, Nachtmusik is one of the most challenging.

The toughest aspect of this piece is, above all, the high notes.

It’s not just that there are many high notes; it features both low and high falsetto, along with repeated, drastic shifts in pitch.

In addition to falsetto technique, precise pitch control is required, placing its difficulty among the highest even within Japanese pop music.

broad daylightKing Gnu

This is King Gnu’s second digital-only single, released in February 2019.

It was written as the theme song for the NTV Saturday drama “Innocence: False Accusation Lawyer,” starring Kentaro Sakaguchi.

Even on first listen, you can tell the song is full of tough spots to reproduce in karaoke—its wildly fluctuating vocal melodies and the extensive use of falsetto, especially in the chorus, make it quite challenging.

Master smooth transitions between different vocal techniques first, then sing it with flair and become the center of attention!

Blue and SummerMrs. GREEN APPLE

Personally, I think this is arguably the most difficult song by Mrs.

GREEN APPLE.

It goes down smoothly when you listen to it, so it’s easy to assume you could sing it without trouble, but once you try, the fast tempo and pitch make a lot of people lose their way.

The song itself is a summer staple where exhilaration and melancholy intersect.

In karaoke, it’s a rewarding challenge that tests your overall ability—range, tempo, and expressiveness.

“Ao to Natsu” has a different feel in both the first and second verses, giving the impression that there are many songs within a single track.

The vocal range is, of course, wide—D#3 to E5—and the intensity ramps up toward the end with a flurry of high notes.

Momentum matters, but choosing where to switch to falsetto is also key.

Tackle each melody one by one.

Let’s practice as summer approaches!

This is Mrs.

GREEN APPLE’s seventh digital-only single, released in April 2023.

It was written as the theme song for the ABC TV/TV Asahi drama series “Even If It’s Sunday Night…”.

Motoki Omori, the vocalist of Mrs.

GREEN APPLE, is a singer whose appeal lies in a voice that carries a touch of boyishness.

In this track as well, he delivers a superb vocal performance, freely switching between powerful chest voice and delicate falsetto, showcasing a truly shape-shifting command of his voice.

Because the song hinges on skillful, seamless transitions in vocal production, I recommend listening closely to the original, studying it, and then trying to sing it yourself to capture everyone’s attention!

Fu re te Fu re ruTK from RIN TO SHITE SIGURE

The B-side to “unravel,” which could be called TK’s signature song, is actually “Fu re te Fu re ru.” It explodes even more with high notes and falsetto than “unravel,” and it’s one of my absolute favorites to sing at karaoke.

Rather than a clean falsetto, TK’s falsetto pierces like a cry, so unless you can normally hit high notes, it’s a tough song to pull off… That said, it’s a super cool track, so if you think of it as a way to practice falsetto, I definitely recommend it for rock lovers! It’s fine to start with a weak falsetto.

Just keep practicing using a lot of breath over and over, and gradually build your explosiveness—that’s the idea!

Omoinotake is a popular band with a musical style similar to Official HIGE DANDism, enjoying nationwide popularity.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is Ikoku Kōnen (Light-Years).

It’s a well-known track across Japan, so most people have probably heard it at least once.

The challenging aspect of this song is definitely the high notes.

We’re not talking slightly high—they feature extremely high falsetto.

Unless you’re very confident in your head voice, it will be difficult to sing it well.

This is Mrs.

GREEN APPLE’s eighth digital-only single, released in June 2023.

It was selected as the campaign song for that year’s Coca-Cola Coke STUDIO.

I felt it’s a wonderful track where the refreshingly arranged sound and Motoki Omori’s clear vocals match perfectly.

To sing this song well, I think it’s important to skillfully switch among his diverse high tones and to command a rich chest voice in the lower parts.

It’s a track I’d love confident male singers to take on as a challenge!
