NEW WORLDSixTONES

NEW WORLDSixTONES

It’s a positive song about becoming stronger thanks to precious friends and continuing to move forward toward the future.

It’s a track by the popular Johnny & Associates idol group SixTONES, included on their 2020 debut single “Imitation Rain / D.D.” With its grand, dance-music feel, it’s perfect for livening up a karaoke session! And if you’re hanging out with the guys, it might be fun for everyone to sing it together.

DOES 'Donten' (TV Tokyo anime 'Gintama' opening theme)
cloudy skyDOES

As the opening theme for the fifth season of the TV Tokyo anime Gintama, a lot of people probably think of Don’ten when they hear Gintama! DOES is a band whose lower registers resonate more than the high ones.

It’s a rock track popular with men for karaoke, where stable low notes and a raw expressive style are key to high scores! The song itself is short at about three minutes.

Even first-time listeners can pick up Don’ten easily, and it’s highly recommended for rock fans! The trick to low notes is to use your breath well and release your voice slowly straight ahead.

If you push your voice out, the low notes resonate more and you can hear your own singing better.

That, of course, makes it easier to stay on pitch.

It’s important to get your voice solidly into the mic when you sing.

LemonYonezu Kenshi

It’s the theme song for the TBS Friday drama “Unnatural.” It’s not a bright, upbeat song, but it quietly builds in emotion and is incredibly moving.

The chorus has a lot of tension, so if you sing it at karaoke, you can instantly draw everyone’s attention.

Since many people know it, you’ll likely have fun chatting about the drama and enjoy a great time after you finish singing!

poofKing Gnu

Sing out that unique worldview with snap and style, and nail it! This is a track by King Gnu, the mixed-genre band known for hits like “Hakujitsu” and “Hikoutei.” It was released in 2020.

Its selection as the theme song for the film “Stolen Identity 2” (original title: ‘スマホを落としただけなのに 囚われの殺人鬼’) created quite a buzz.

The song’s somewhat shadowy tone and melody will stick in your head.

The lyrics are decadent and gritty, too.

There are a lot of words, so it’s tough to get through, but that’s exactly what makes it worth the challenge.

U.S.A.DA PUMP

A comeback hit by DA PUMP that popularized the term “so uncool it’s cool.” It’s easy for anyone to get into, and the choreography isn’t difficult, so it’s easy to copy! That said, since vocalist ISSA has a relatively high range, the song’s overall range is narrow at B3–B4, but the chorus stays high.

If you’re good at sustained high notes in chest voice, you’ll be able to sing the whole thing comfortably.

If high notes are tough for you, try moving your body while you sing—matching your movement to your timing should help you lock in those high notes more and more.

WANIMA – Together (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

It’s WANIMA’s second single and was used in Nivea Kao’s “8×4 Body Fresh” commercial.

The chorus really sticks in your head—even for me.

The overall vocal range is G#3 to D#5, which is on the higher side, and the tempo is an ultra-fast BPM 254, but if you lock into the band’s rhythm and sing along, your energy will definitely rise and it should actually make it easier to project your voice! If you let your guard down even for a moment, your pitch will drop into your throat and it’ll get harder to sing, so you need to keep your facial muscles lifted at all times.

For the rapid-fire section in the latter half, first run through the melody line and pronounce it lightly to get it under your belt!

Adventure Beyondchōtokkyū

Adventure Beyondchōtokkyū

It’s a full-on, high-energy uptempo track that’s so typical of Choutokkyuu, and it really gets the crowd going at live shows, with lots of call-and-response parts where everyone can shout together! The overall vocal range is two octaves, from C#3 to C#5, but thanks to the headbanging sections and the many unique lyrics sprinkled with otaku terms and internet slang, you’ll find the high notes come out easily if you sing brightly and keep the hype up.

Don’t worry about pitch—just have fun singing, that’s the most important thing! By the way, I love Ryoga’s funny faces during the song and I always burst out laughing, lol.

Definitely check out the video!
