[Karaoke] A Collection of Songs Whose Titles Start with 'Mo'

At karaoke, people sometimes set various rules, like singing songs by the same artist or choosing based on song titles.

One fun idea is to pick a letter from the Japanese syllabary and sing “songs that start with ___.”

In this article, we’ll introduce a selection of songs that start with “mo,” so feel free to use this as a reference for your next karaoke session.

Many of these tracks feature sentimental words like “moshi” (if) and “mou” (already/no longer), so it can be nice to think about the lyrics’ meaning or imagine the story as you sing.

Be sure to check out these “mo”-starting songs by artists who’ve been active from the Showa era through Heisei and into Reiwa.

It’s a song by SunSet Swish that was used as the ending theme for the 2007 anime Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

The title is said to liken life to a mosaic and conveys the idea of how the fragments of that mosaic shape one’s life.

The anime is about a young man who rebels against his country with conviction in order to seek vengeance, and the more you read the lyrics, the more you empathize not only with the protagonist but with the other characters as well.

It’s also used as an insert song in the movies, and the timing when it plays is absolutely perfect! I really hope you’ll watch it.

Victim of Deception, a leading force in Japan’s deathcore scene, was formed in 2014.

Armed with blisteringly fast blast beats and razor-sharp guitar riffs that are modern yet at times imbued with hardcore elements, their brutal deathcore sound can be considered one of the genre’s pinnacles in Japan.

Despite the tragedy of their vocalist passing away suddenly due to illness in 2017, they made a comeback in 2018 with a new vocalist.

The rock band WANDS, which disbanded in 2000, churned out hit songs throughout the 1990s.

The cool presence of vocalist Sho Uesugi and his remarkable vocal prowess were truly striking.

However, Uesugi later said that from the time of their debut he felt their musical style didn’t suit him, and that he always had a sense of just being made to do it.

Urban Garde is a band featuring twin vocals by Yoko Hamasaki and Tenma Matsunaga, with Kei Okubo on keyboards.

They released their first album, “Shoujo wa Nido Shinu” (A Girl Dies Twice), in 2008, and made their major-label debut in 2011 with the single “Skirt Kakumei” (Skirt Revolution).

Their appeal lies in a sound that’s uniquely quirky, a bit sickly, yet unmistakably pop.

Each song shows a different side of them, making you want to keep following their work.

Older songs have very impactful intros, and this one is the same.

The lyrics are lovely too.

It’s a song that brings happiness to the town—when Sally casts her spell, love and hope burst forth.

It makes me think how wonderful old songs are.

More One NightChito (Minase Inori), Yuuri (Kubo Yurika)

This is the ending theme of the anime Girls’ Last Tour, which tells the story of two girls traveling through a desolate world.

It’s sung by Inori Minase and Yurika Kubo, the voice actresses for the protagonists.

The pop sound and catchy melody really stick in your head.
