Music festivals in eastern Japan held during Golden Week [2026]

This open-air music festival from Toyama was named by combining the “wan” of Toyama Bay with the desire to create “the place in the prefecture that gathers the most smiles and love.” Set in Imizu City’s Kaiwomaru Park—one of the prefecture’s premier locations with views of the Shinminato Bridge, the sailing ship Kaiwomaru, and the towering Tateyama Mountain Range—local volunteers continue to hold the event to contribute to the community through music and food. A hallmark of the festival is its family-friendly focus, with nursing rooms, diaper-changing stations, and play areas for children. It will be held over two days during Golden Week in 2026.

A multi-festival combining music, dance, and a bazaar will be held at the Fussa Civic Hall. The event, previously known as the “Fussa Machinaka Art Festival,” will be relaunched under a new name as its first edition. Set against the grounds of Senshōzan Senryū-ji, an ancient temple said to have been founded in the Nara period, this is a handmade festival of coffee and music presented by “comaecolor,” a pro bono team of Komae citizens. Eighteen roasters from Japan and abroad gather day by day along the verdant approach, while 15 acoustic-centered artists perform on stage nearby. Held over three days during Golden Week in May 2026, it is a beloved, homegrown event that has grown with each edition.

The Nagareyama Green Festival is a citizen-participation event themed around greenery and flowers, organized by Nagareyama City in Chiba Prefecture. At the venue, Morinomachi Plaza (Nagareyama-Otakanomori Station South Exit), visitors are welcomed by a large floral picture composed of about 3,000 flower and vegetable seedlings, serving as a photo spot. In 2026, as a special edition commemorating the 60th anniversary of Nagareyama’s municipal establishment, special programs will include a city-building tour walking with the mayor and a floral picture project created by children.
