Tokyo Metropolis
KokuFesSat 5/9–Sun 5/10, Tokyo
Kokubunji is a city of music where Kiyoshiro Imawano spent his childhood, Haruki Murakami once ran a jazz café, and the rock café Honyarado still shines today. KokuFes is a community-driven festival launched in 2020 by a citizen executive committee to showcase local appeal, creating two days when music rises from every corner of the town. A diverse lineup appears—from professional musicians to children and seniors—and in 2026 it will be held at 39 venues across the city under the banner “E environment, E music!”

CRAFTROCK FESTIVALSat 5/9–Sun 5/10, Tokyo
CRAFTROCK FESTIVAL is a “music and craft beer festival” hosted by the brewery CRAFTROCK BREWING. The venue is Tachikawa Stage Garden, and its hallmark is a schedule that alternates between the hall stage and the outdoor lawn stage, letting you enjoy every artist with no overlapping sets. Powerhouse acts from the rock/pop scene such as STRAIGHTENER, toe, and cero will gather, and you can also savor distinctive craft beers from eight breweries from Japan and abroad. Scheduled for May 2026.

Thai FestivalSat 5/9–Sun 5/10, Tokyo
The Thai Festival Tokyo is an international event that began in 2000 under the auspices of the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo, adopting its current name in 2005. It takes place at the Yoyogi Park Event Square in Shibuya, Tokyo. Centered on Thai cuisine and product sales, the festival also features stage performances such as traditional Thai dance, Muay Thai demonstrations, and live shows by Thai artists, offering a multifaceted experience of Thai culture. The 26th edition will be held in May 2026 and is one of Tokyo’s premier international events, attracting over 300,000 visitors every year.

Lifelong Learning Festival: Kamanofuchi Fresh Greenery FestivalSat 5/9–Sun 5/10, Tokyo
This is a community-focused event hosted by the Ome City Board of Education as part of the Lifelong Learning Festival, where various local circles active in the city showcase the results of their regular practice. The venues span Kamanofuchi Park along the Tama River, the Former Miyazaki Residence within the park, and the S&D Tamagu Center, a cultural exchange hub. A shuttle bus connects the lush Tama nature in fresh greenery with key spots around town. A diverse array of stages—including singing, dancing, and instrumental performances—will be featured, and the event will be held in May 2026.

Edogawa Music FestivalSunday, May 10, Tokyo
A music festival originating in Edogawa City, first held in 2025. Commemorating the 100th year of the Showa era, it embraces the concept of sharing classic Showa-era pop songs across generations. Centered on live performances by amateur musicians who live, work, or study in the ward, it features a contest format with screening and awards. For its second edition in 2026, the application period has been extended until the end of February, passing on a community-rooted music culture to the next generation.
