[History] Summary of Popular Nescafé Commercials and CM Songs (21–30)
Little TokyoOda Kazumasa

Kazumasa Oda, the genius singer-songwriter Japan is proud of, hardly appeared in the media during his Off Course days.
Right after the band broke up in 1989, he surprised fans by appearing himself in this Nescafé Gold Blend commercial.
Many people surely remember him singing the opening phrase a cappella, followed by the dapper image of Oda sipping coffee.
The song “Little Tokyo” was his third single overall, and its refined, urban, and grown-up sound—so characteristic of Oda—perfectly matched the mood of the commercial.
Incidentally, the label Oda founded is also named “Little Tokyo,” so you could say this track encapsulates the very image of Oda as he made his fresh start as a solo artist.
DreamsThe Cranberries

It was featured as the song for a Nescafé Excella commercial.
This track is often used as background music in various movies, dramas, and TV programs, so many people have probably heard it somewhere before.
It’s truly perfect for an elegant coffee time, and I think it’s a song that makes you feel like you’re having a fulfilling day.
Happiness continuessawada kenji

This is a song that was chosen as the image song for the 2002 Nestlé Tsuzuku Shiawase Present campaign.
Kenji Sawada’s powerful yet gentle vocals are deeply moving.
Even after this song’s run ended, the tie-in continued with artists like The Gospellers carrying it on.
Morning Has BrokenCat Stevens

Cat Stevens, a British musician, is a singer who represents the 1960s.
Isn’t “Morning Has Broken,” released in 1978, a classic that everyone has heard at least once? Its gentle melody is soothing to the heart.
It’s a wonderful song you’ll want to listen to in the morning!
awakeningIju Kayo

In the NESCAFÉ GOLD BLEND commercial “Preserving While Evolving,” Shusaku Endo, who appeared in a 1972 NESCAFÉ ad, is joined by Toshiaki Karasawa, who has starred in NESCAFÉ commercials since 2003, for a dazzling crossover.
The ad features the familiar NESCAFÉ jingle “Mezame.” It’s the perfect classic tune to complement this star-studded collaboration, just as it has supported NESCAFÉ alongside both of them for many years.
Sung entirely as a wordless scat, the song is a beloved classic known by everyone from children to adults.
Its refined melody and vocals turn coffee breaks into elegant moments.
Sa Yo Na Raglobe

“Sa Yo Na Ra” is the 14th single released in 1998 by globe, a music unit that debuted in 1995.
It was used as the CM song for Nescafé’s Wake-Up Moment and Break-Time Moment.
This track, which feels fresh no matter when you listen to it, makes you want to relax and enjoy it with a cup of coffee.
Love’s ThemeLove Unlimited Orchestra

A collaboration commercial between the music program “LIVE MONSTER,” hosted by DREAMS COME TRUE’s bassist Masato Nakamura, and Nescafé.
In the Nescafé regular soluble coffee commercial, for which Nakamura himself also served as the ad character, the song “Love’s Theme” by the Love Unlimited Orchestra was used.
This 40-piece orchestra was formed by American singer-songwriter Barry White, and their biggest hit was this very track featured in the commercial.
The melody—beautiful and refreshingly crisp—perfectly matches the sophisticated vibe of enjoying an adult coffee break with Nescafé.
