A collaboration commercial between the music program “LIVE MONSTER,” hosted by DREAMS COME TRUE’s bassist Masato Nakamura, and Nescafé.

In the Nescafé regular soluble coffee commercial, for which Nakamura himself also served as the ad character, the song “Love’s Theme” by the Love Unlimited Orchestra was used.

This 40-piece orchestra was formed by American singer-songwriter Barry White, and their biggest hit was this very track featured in the commercial.

The melody—beautiful and refreshingly crisp—perfectly matches the sophisticated vibe of enjoying an adult coffee break with Nescafé.

NESCAFÉ President 1999 TV commercial

The Begin of Twilightchiaki naomi

The song used in the 1999 commercial for Nescafé’s top-tier instant coffee, Nescafé President, was Naomi Chiaki’s “Tasogare no Begin.” It’s a calm, soothing track that perfectly suits a relaxing coffee break.

Originally released in 1959 as a song by Hiroshi Mizuhara, it was later covered by numerous artists—including Naomi Chiaki, Sayuri Ishikawa, Masashi Sada, and Akina Nakamori—and has since become a standard number.

Once Again It’s SummertimeMaxi Priest

This song, which perfectly matches Nescafé’s stylish image, is “Once Again It’s Summertime” by reggae lovers rock singer Maxi Priest.

It’s based on “Aura Lee,” a song widely sung in the United States and well known in Japan, so the melody is essentially that of “Aura Lee.” By the way, Maxi Priest also took part in Yuji Oda’s “Love Somebody,” the theme song of the Bayside Shakedown (Odoru Daisōsasen) series, contributing both the rap lyrics and vocals.

With the gentle melody of “Aura Lee” transformed into a chic, light reggae style, it offers a whole new way to enjoy “Aura Lee.”

DREAMS COME TRUE’s “MADE OF GOLD,” which played in the Nescafé Gold Blend “MADE OF GOLD” commercial, really stands out with Miwa Yoshida’s soaring vocals and the memorable phrases used in the ad.

It was a double A-side track paired with the 2013 single “Saa Kane o Narase.” Some listeners might actually be hearing the full version for the first time.
