Easy Ninja Sword with Newspaper

Let’s make a simple ninja sword using newspaper! You’ll need newspaper and a small piece of cardboard.
First, draw two circles on the cardboard, and draw a smaller circle inside each of them.
Using a compass will help you draw neat circles.
Cut out the outer circles, and use a utility knife to cut out the inner circles.
An adult should do the cutting with the utility knife, or work together with a child.
Next, roll up the newspaper tightly and tape the ends.
Finally, insert the cut-out cardboard rings onto the newspaper and secure them with tape, and your ninja sword is complete! Since it’s made of newspaper, it’s safe even if it bumps into someone.

Tear and shape

Newspaper tears easily in the vertical direction, so it’s actually quite hard to rip it into neat circles or squares.
You could have a few people try making a circle and see who does it the best, or have fun guessing what the randomly torn shapes look like.
In conclusion
We've gathered a variety of activities and games you can play with newspaper. There were so many that kids are sure to love. The great thing about newspaper play is how easy and simple it is. Be sure to try it for indoor play! We’ve also included a cleanup game using newspaper, so if you play it together with the other games, you can even enjoy tidying up the room like a game.
