Craft: Acorn maracas

Craft: Acorn maracas

Put unused materials to good use! Here’s an idea for making acorn maracas.

You’ll need a few acorns or other nuts, a small plastic bottle, vinyl tape, and scissors.

First, go outside and pick up your favorite nuts.

Using several will make the sound easier to hear! Next, put the nuts into the small plastic bottle.

You can count them as you drop them in, and enjoy the sound they make as they fall into the bottle.

Finally, reinforce the cap with vinyl tape so it doesn’t come off, and you’re done!

[Interactive Play] Sweet Potato Tempura

Parent-child bonding play (sweet potato tempura)
[Interactive Play] Sweet Potato Tempura

A playful, rhythmic bonding game! Let us introduce “Sweet Potato Tempura.” The child lies on their back on the floor, while a parent or teacher sits and gently holds the child’s legs.

The child plays the sweet potato, and the adult plays the cook.

Count “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” or sing to the rhythm as you act out the steps—washing, cutting, coating with flour, frying, and eating—through interactive play! It’s a wonderful way to deepen your bond through physical connection.

[Interactive Play] Cat Teaser

[Interactive Play] Cat Teaser

A fun interactive playtime set to music! We’re introducing Sho Fukuda’s “Nekojarashi.” In this activity, parents’ or teachers’ hands become a cat teaser, and you enjoy playful interactions with children.

As the music progresses, the number of “cat teasers” grows from 1 to 5 to 10—what a fun twist! When doing interactive play, watch children’s expressions carefully, and make sure parents and teachers enjoy it together too—that’s the key! Let’s say the sounds together as we play: kurukuru (swirl), tsuntsun (poke), mojamojya (tickly).

[Children’s Song] Dragonfly, Dragonfly

Autumn Children’s Song [Dragonfly, Dragonfly] Hamamatsu City
[Children’s Song] Dragonfly, Dragonfly

The key point is that everyone—from tiny babies to adults—can interact and play together with dragonflies.

This is a traditional children’s song that depicts an autumn scene, with dragonflies gliding smoothly through the clear blue autumn sky.

As you sing, it’s important to match the lyrics by making large circular movements with your body and moving up and down.

Children also enjoy the part where they lie down on the floor in time with the piano.

Repeating the same lyrics again and again helps language development.

It’s also recommended to create variations you can enjoy by arranging the song with original lyrics.

[Children’s Song] Donguri Koro-chan (Little Rolling Acorn)

Donguri Koro-chan is such a lovely traditional children’s song that enriches kids’ hearts and bodies.

You raise both hands in a triangle to make an acorn pose, gently place a hand with a little pat on your own bottom, and sing as if you’ve become an acorn yourself.

It’s even more fun if you use acorns you picked up on a walk or ones made from felt.

This version of Donguri Koro-chan is for autumn, but it’s also recommended to make a winter version and arrange it to better capture the seasonal feeling.

[Gymnastics] mushroom

Let’s become autumn’s delicacy—mushrooms—and dance! Here are ideas for exercises set to the song “Kinoko” (Mushroom).

The key point is to stretch your arms and make a big circle over your head, then dance as if you’ve turned into a mushroom, a classic taste of autumn.

Move your body freely to the easy-to-remember melody and irresistibly groovy rhythm! The hip-wiggling moves are sure to bring smiles to everyone’s faces.

Parents and teachers, be sure to join in and dance along, too.

Gymnastics: We Are Grapes

[Dance/Childcare] We Are Grapes / Tsubasa Suzuki & Sho Fukuda [Exercise/Kindergarten/Toddlers/Infants/Fruit/Autumn/Parenting/Children’s Songs]
Gymnastics: We Are Grapes

With its autumnal melody and easy-to-remember lyrics, this is an exercise routine that naturally makes you want to move your body.

This song lets you feel the changing seasons, and since various types of grapes appear, it also stimulates children’s imaginations.

Try enjoying the exercises while picturing autumn’s seasonal treat—grapes.

It’s also fun to customize the lyrics by swapping the grape parts with other fruit names, or to use instruments like tambourines, castanets, or maracas.
