strap

Here’s a how-to for making adorable cat charms that cat lovers won’t be able to resist.
Use a cat-shaped chocolate mold you can find at 100-yen shops, and give it a try.
Press paper clay into the mold, let it dry, then paint it and add patterns and facial features.
Try drawing your favorite cats, like calico or black cats.
Adding a tail on the back makes it even cuter.
It’s perfect as a summer vacation project if you make it with your child.
You can also turn it straight into a keychain, so give it a go!
Lucky Daruma

Here’s a way to make eight daruma dolls from a single block of paper clay.
Prepare paper clay, glass marbles, and markers or paints.
Divide the clay into eight equal portions, then roll and shape one portion into a ball.
Insert a marble toward the bottom as a weight and check that it rights itself when tipped.
Press down the top to form the face area.
Paint everything except the face in your preferred color, such as red or blue, then draw the eyes and nose to complete the face.
If you make all eight in different colors and with different expressions, you’ll have a set of colorful daruma dolls.
Give it a try!
Tabletop clay accessories
Small clay mascots that can sit on a tabletop test your attention to detail precisely because you’re aiming for a compact, easy-to-display size.
While you’re free to create whatever you like, it’s fun to build a unique world with things that don’t exist in reality—like a pig popping out of a flowerpot or a sheep blooming like a flower.
Paying close attention to details such as the pig’s and sheep’s coats to craft them finely adds realism, which in turn makes the finished piece’s strangeness stand out even more.
Using clays in a variety of colors for a colorful finish is a key point that enhances the joy of both the making process and the display.
mask

How about trying your hand at making a mask you can enjoy both displaying and playing with? There are three main steps: first, prepare a plain white mask and build the base by combining it with newspaper.
Next, use clay to refine the design down to the details.
Finally, once the clay has dried, paint it and thread a cord through to finish.
You could model it after an animal or a favorite character, or make a mask that fits a holiday or the season.
Start by letting your imagination run and picturing what you’d like to create.
black cat

A black cat is a recommended idea, too.
It’s simply cute to look at, and it also comes in handy for Halloween.
When making it, try constructing it in separate parts: head, body, and tail.
You can go for realistic proportions or deformed chibi style with two heads’ height.
You can also have fun arranging it as cats of different colors and patterns.
If you make a variety of cats and line them up, they’ll look even cuter.
And during the Halloween season, displaying them alongside pumpkins is also a great idea.
